I'm going to spitball here since I haven't studied the latest blow-up in depth, but I'll conveniently blame this drama on Rust's woke crybaby culture, where no one must ever have their feelings hurt (e.g., all criticism of Ashley Williams being deleted), and they make up for lack of real conflict resolution and social skills with endless code of conduct sperging.
This JeanHeyd character was clearly rush-voted in as keynote speaker because he is black. It's no secret that there aren't a lot of black tech whizzes, so per their values they had to push one to the top. (This happens on the right too of course. What do you call the one black in a room of a hundred Republicans? Mr. Chairman.) But he was simply an unsuitable choice, since his main work, while not bad, was idiosyncratic and well outside core Rust. So the leadership belatedly decided it was reasonable to move him from keynote to ordinary speaker, kind of a lateral move and kind of a demotion. And of course JeanHeyd blows his top over this. He knows he's black and thus above them and can say and do whatever and get apologies.
No one did the right thing here. He shouldn't have been picked, the demotion if it had to happen could be done delicately, and he could've been the bigger man about it and then cracked a few pointed jokes at his non-keynote speech. But Rust's culture made it all happen exactly this way.

I hated Wayland for reinventing the wheel completely wrong, but this list takes the cake, its just fantastic. I had no idea Wayland devs are so retarded to not implement stuff like screen capture APIs.

For the time I spent gaming on Linux everything broke on Wayland and it ran like shit. This was on two machines, both AMD video cards. Games would either crash constantly or not properly enter full screen, they would also for whatever reason have wonky mouse acceleration.
Not like this matters but one of my favorite desktops, Trinity DE doesn't support Wayland and most likely never will but thats probably because the developers not only use BSD but actually care about it. It's so goddamn funny that as always, GNOME stands side-by-side with it and its army of pajeets and beaners will constantly make up shitty excuses as to why X11 is obselete. Never seen anything not work on X11.

No, you don't get it. Basic things like capturing the screen and reacting to keyboard and mouse input are actually security flaws. Another hole in X11!
I'm wondering when they're going to make a new terminal interface to make it more secure and stop it reading keyboard and mouse input.

Some stuff on that list is outdated/already fixed with other programs.
For those who don't know, probono is the dev who made AppImages. He has an abrasive personality if I say so myself.
I get not liking where Wayland is going, but if there's no development on X11 and everyone who did work now shifted to Wayland, you're only delaying the inevitable unless you want to fork it and maintain it yourself.

That's pretty shocking. Someone working on a system that actually improves the Linux user experience instead of fucking with it. Well, it did start in 2004...
I wish that they weren't immutable so it would be easier to swap out shared objects if needed but otherwise it's a big big improvement over the package repo mess.

Rust has been forked to create Crab. It has "All of the memory-safe features you love, now with 100% less bureaucracy!". It has no new features, and it breaks exisiting compatiability because everything is named differently. Not sure if it's a joke project but its got 3.5k stars on GitHub already.

I for one like people using github gists to "start conversations". It's way better than twitter and isn't an deeply censored nightmare site like reddit. GitHub accounts are way easier to get than most social media, I don't think they require phone numbers for anyone. It's really a matter of time before some globohomo journos write some shit about people posting the word "nigger" approximately 10 million times in a gist and therefore microsoft has to censor everything.
