Ugh. I recognize that same brand of pump from its use in my IRL proximity. A new mother was using one as gifted to her from her friend; another mother who no longer needed it. This passing-on of much needed baby gadgetry had happened without a second thought, because like feeding their babies, that's just what mothers in the real world do. Had to go watch the scene (objectively) and I had a few takeaways...

First and foremost (and side, side-note). I don't want to go all the way into the "Hollywood ritual" rabbit hole, but it is interesting how many of these actresses (in particular) have to perform in these gratuitous sex scenes in these obscure movies (I'm out the loop a bit, so that may also be the reason I haven't heard of this movie) in order to elevate or maintain their status. I wonder what headspace they have to get into, knowing that their scene is inevitably going to wind up on a repository along the likes of the outright porn actresses they lowkey don't want to be associated with...? That artistic and integral movie you did...? Yeah, its relegated down to one scene that's just fodder for someone to fap to, right along with a bukkake clip next in the queue.

Segue into the meat of my rant: Sex scenes in general. They were always an interesting thing for me to see in mainstream movies and shows ever since a kid. Because (aside from concealing non-penetration) it is the only thing that really can't be faked. Sure, you can act to a convincing degree the intimate feelings you absolutely may not have toward your costar (although the counter to that is it reading as not having chemistry); but unlike action scenes where a punch can be faked with camera trickery, or getting wounded is achieved through editing and makeup, your body, in that moment, is receiving real-time, tactile sensations.

Therefore, touching and kissing -- even absent of genuine romantic feelings -- will oftentimes illicit a real physiological response. So, regardless of what actors may say about how filming them are notoriously anxiety-inducing (considering being in the presence of a bunch of crew watching, and is oftentimes very choreographed, and is hours of takes and being in the same perhaps uncomfortable position(s) in probably intolerable rooms) you have bros like Henry Cavil who will be honest and admit to popping a boner when filming one.* In fact, it appears to be very common according to **lol** intimacy coordinators. (*I state this while also acknowledging that it appears mostly actresses experience this anxiety from and aversion to such scenes, but I digress.)

Now, don't get me wrong, I appreciate beholding the female form like anyone else so-inclined. But, beyond being titillating to the eyes, I can't fully comprehend the artistic value a whole naked body in an intimate scene brings; especially and because the act can't really be faked in the way other types of scenes can. I, personally, would be fine if all mainstream movies with such scenes consisted of: a. the prelude kiss; b. transition to; c. the morning after scene, not because I'm some kind of prude or puritan, but because of the above mentioned reasoning. To that end, porn is porn, whatever. Also, porn is the absolute reality of what things like sex in mainstream movies (and, to an extent, even soft core) put on airs about. I don't know, but this is already a text wall in and of itself, so I'll cut it short.

That all being said, it looked like Ellen was waaaaay too into that scene than just mere performing. And, why not? She was able to vicariously live out her desired orientation (with someone hot, no less) under the guise of "acting" (when -- through the magic of hindsight -- this was just the precursor to current-day Elliot.) On that note, I don't know why she just didn't stop at being a lesbian and be done with it. (Well, I do know, and it is because of the many reasons why women troon out (which are all sad).) She was in the most welcoming of industries to do so, living in the most welcoming of states, heck[in], the most welcoming of cities!
