I generally feel bad for Elissa. She had a bunch of people attack her over the Michael Long Case, and her life got up ended. I have not seen, but based on the vitriol I have seen in other cases, I would not be surprised if there are still people trying to sabatoge her prospects.

Knowing people who have left abosuive relationships, lost status to addictions, and fallen into deep depression, it is hard to pull up out of it, and they cling desperately on to what remnants of normalcy they had before (sometime the destructive parts like their addiction).

It is also harder for women compared to men to dig their way out of the hole somehow. Male suicide rate is higher generally, but women wallow a lot more. Do not believe the statistics that cite female attempts as higher. The attempts are there to pad numbers the same way sexual assault statistics and gun reports are padded.

I'm just not sure who's got the bright idea with the logic "Let's sue him because the previous owners left us and he was misusing funds to prevent him from reporting on news we may or may not report on". You can't claim damages on something you didn't do!

Just at a casual glance it doesn't look like a very solid case. Courts don't generally like anticompetitive trade practices that keep someone from doing their job. They're rarely enforced out of situations like where a lawyer sells his entire practice to someone else, claiming to be retiring, and then starts poaching clients from them.

Even there they're generally fairly strictly limited by time and geography.

I'd like to know the contents of the contract but I don't see this ultimately succeeding, although if they somehow manage to get an injunction out of it, that will indicate the court considers there to be something actually there.

I haven't really looked into it deeply, but "we fired you and now we're suing you to keep you from being allowed to have a job" is not exactly a compelling argument in most cases.

Kalea seems nice enough from what I have seen of her public posting. She has a bunch of medical issues that I never bothered to dig into, but she is upfront about it. I am glad it seems to have made he reflective instead of vindictive toward the world.

She was the one, for reference, that was the massive push behind getting Rekieta his Twitter back and setup the Rekieta Law News account to tweet his links out while he was suspended.

She was on the victory stream with Nick and a few others once he was reinstated. She seemed more subdued and less awed and a fangirl of Nick than the others. She went from that to posting relatively mild criticisms in the MARI chats when Null talks about Nick.

Seems like good people so far.

LOCALS is bot hard to setup, but limiting at the start with maximum monthly limits to upload bandwidth, e-mail notifications, and livestream capability. The caps grow at predetermined community size/revenue goals or by special dispensation.

Assuming Elissa only wants to use it as a way to pay her, it might work.

On the user privacy side, I will note that the creator does get to see the e-mail associated with everyone who signs up to the community (pretty sure only for paying members) and a city and state location for the USA, and a country for outside the USA if you enter your location, or your payment method had a geomagnetic attached to it. Not 100% sure how it works.

@Himedall All-seeing Waifu your logging has been an excellent contribution to the thread and fits in well with a goal of archiving, discussing, speculating, etc. FWIW I think that the Locals activity declined mainly due to the loss of novelty and the takeover of the chat by a small clique, with secondary reasons being Nick's absence from the chat and people realizing that a public chat room is in fact public. People realized this before @Himedall All-seeing Waifu started posting logs, by the way. I'm pretty sure the clip of Rekieta talking about how the idea of a lolsuit over reposting things publicly posted online was absurd and it wouldn't work in a million years was about one of Claire's streams containing screenshots and not the logs.

In terms with Elissa, who cares? If Nick got butthurt he could try to strike basically every video on her channel and even if YT took her side in almost every case, there would almost certainly be enough strikes to take her channel down. And it's not like DSP where there's so many detractors making clips that striking one down doesn't make any difference. There were edits in the Mandy video but it seems to me that watching the original stream without the cuts actually makes Nick seem less coherent and more drunk. So if Nick wants to strike her down, he can, but that leaves an opening for new clippers emerging who aren't willing to take down things when he asks them to.
