This may be an unpopular opinion, but I like it when developers provide storytelling for their collectibles. If you're not providing anything tangible for your collectibles, then what's the point?

GTA IV was worse in that regard. Achieve 100% completion, what do you get? An achievement, prior rewards for completing previous tasks and infinite ammo. WOW.
What are you talking about? Having an in-universe explanation for what the collectible is?

RDR2 is a good example of that, the things you are searching for (dinosaur bones, cliff etchings, etc.) are things that characters have asked you to find and have some sort of story or are thematically appropriate to be there.

GTA Online: San Andreas Mercenaries Coming June 13

It’s no secret Merryweather Security are as corrupt as everyone else in this town — but now there’s talk on the street that these shady contract killers are scaling up and squeezing out any rogue competition across Southern San Andreas. For freelance professionals in the criminal underground, this could be the last straw — it’s time to hit them where it hurts.

Take flight alongside a team of elite pilots and ex-military operators to do battle against the monolithic forces of San Andreas’ largest private military in GTA Online: San Andreas Mercenaries, an action-packed new update spanning the streets, seas, and skies on June 13.

Expert aircraft mechanic and ace pilot Charlie Reed is putting together a squadron of proficient aviators and guns-for-hire known only as the Los Santos Angels to take on new lucrative private work, stealing sensitive data from server farms, conducting raids, and dropping explosive payloads on high-value targets across the state.

With Charlie's help, the Mammoth Avenger will become an enhanced aerial command center equipped with a new Operations Terminal and weapons system upgrades. Plus, you’ll embark upon new ventures running valuable contraband on the ground as well as come across spontaneous opportunities to liberate cash and commodities from lucrative roving targets.

Both new and experienced smugglers will also benefit from a range of upgrades for Avenger and Hangar owners, including the ability to store and customize your Avenger from your Hangar, or even store and access your Avenger without owning a Hangar or Facility property. Get ready now: Gear up your team, prep your Hangar facility, set up your Avenger, and sharpen your smuggler skill set for the battle ahead.

With even more in the next action-packed update to GTA Online — including new random events, a brand-new Tactical SMG perfect for firing while driving, daily time trials, and much more — the sky’s the limit this summer. Plus, look for more ongoing improvements to the entire GTA Online experience, with even more player-requested improvements on the way with the update, including:
  • When calling Mors Mutual Insurance, you'll be able to claim all destroyed vehicles at once.
  • An alternate sprint control option (hold to sprint) will be added to the Settings Menu.
  • Custom description tags for garages to help quickly locate your favorite rides.
  • The Willard Eudora and Albany Classique Broadway will become eligible for Taxi Work when using Taxi Liveries.
  • Updates to the Creator to incorporate additional props and weather options, including snow.

These, and many experience improvements inspired by direct feedback from the community like easy-to-access snacks right from the Weapon Wheel and the ability to launch sell missions in invite-only sessions, are on top of the numerous enhancements made since the launch of GTA Online on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, which include ray-traced reflections and the introduction of the Career Builder making it easier than ever to rise through the criminal ranks — along with the roving Gun Van, 50-car multi-floor garage, new License Plate Creator, Taxi Work, and much more.

GTA Online: San Andreas Mercenaries will be available to all GTA Online players on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on June 13. Stay tuned for additional info to be revealed about this summer’s update, including details on new gameplay, vehicles, activities, special upcoming weekly events and celebrations, and more.

Who the fuck asked for a Smugglers Run expansion? Isn't the smuggling operation in general like the least used business? That's really what this game needed, more jets and military shit.

Surely it will be better and reliable than Hydra, right?

Perhaps in GTA VI, with an insanely high price for easy Shark Cards sale profit.
But Rockstar could just have that easy Shark Card profit in 2 weeks-6 months with their jets and military shit update update

I find it funny that everyone was so upset that GTA Online would continue to get "updates" and RDO wouldn't when this is the type of shit getting released lol

It's still pretty stupid. R* can never pull this off.

Experience Improvements Coming to GTA Online

Vehicle Updates

  • The ability to claim all destroyed vehicles at once when filing a Mors Mutual Insurance claim.
  • Mors Mutual will no longer charge for recovering Personal Vehicles destroyed during contact missions.
  • Custom description tags for garages to help quickly locate your favorite rides when calling the Mechanic.
  • The ability to select from individual floors when requesting vehicles from the Eclipse Blvd Garage.
  • Pressing D-Pad Right will engage Stealth Mode on the new F-160 Raiju Plane. Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) will move to L3/LS. Holding L3/LS when flying all VTOL aircraft will switch it into and out of VTOL mode.
  • The option to re-request an active Mobile Operations Center, Avenger, or Terrorbyte delivered closer to your location via the Interaction Menu.
  • Additional filters for Race types when browsing the Jobs Menu.
  • The Willard Eudora and Albany Classique Broadway will be eligible for Taxi Work when using Taxi Liveries.
  • Lesser-used vehicles will be removed from in-game websites to streamline the browsing experience. These vehicles will be made available via events showrooms, The Lucky Wheel, and other places.

Gameplay Updates

  • A new Register as a Boss option in the Interaction Menu, merging SecuroServ and Motorcycle Club.
  • A Buy All option when purchasing Body Armor at Ammu-Nation. Rank requirements for Body Armor are also being removed.
  • Body Armor will be restocked after Quick Restarting a mission, matching the same Body Armor levels as when first entering the lobby.
  • When equipping Body Armor via the Weapon Wheel, the type of Armor used will be relative to how much damage the player has taken.
  • When parachuting or in freefall, players will no longer receive phone calls from Tom Connors or English Dave.
  • Madrazo Dispatch Services no longer requires multiple players and can be taken on solo.
  • Alternative sprint control (hold to sprint) in the Settings Menu.
  • Players will be able to select a name for their Acid product (via the Interaction Menu) to receive a 5% sell bonus.
  • Rank requirements for Daily Objectives will be removed to allow more players to participate.

Balancing Updates

  • Payouts on many Collectibles and Events — such as Buried Stashes and Treasure Chests — will be increased. We are also correcting payouts for Gerald's Last Play and A Superyacht Life upwards by 25%.
  • Rebalancing weapons on the P-996 Lazer and Mammoth Hydra (Freemode only).
  • The Orbital Cannon can no longer be instantly reset or refunded to prevent players from being repeatedly targeted.

Career Progress

Track your criminal activities with Career Progress — a new feature that displays your progression as you rise through the criminal ranks and establish your empire. This will be accessible on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S from the GTA Online Main Menu or the Pause Menu, making it easier for both fresh-faced and veteran players to see all their accomplishments at a glance.

Creator Updates

We’re always amazed by the ingenuity of the GTA Online community — creating the incredible Deathmatches, Races, and more featured in our regularly updated Community Series. A number of additions and updates are being made to the Rockstar Creator to continue fostering the kind of imaginative chaos that can only be experienced in Southern San Andreas. Some of these Creator updates include:
  • Dozens of new props are available in all Creators, including giant License Plate Walls, eCola cans, destructible fences, underwater mines, and more.
  • A Snow weather option for Deathmatches, Races, and Survivals. Plus, Halloween themed additions arriving later this year.
  • Option to toggle musical score on and off.
  • Option to distinguish teams by assigning Outfits.
  • Deathmatches will now have options for Dynamic Teams — players can change teams when respawning and Health Drain — where players lose health over time. Plus, new radar blip options, the ability to lock time of day and weather options in the lobby, options to choose respawn time for item and weapon pickups, and much more.
  • Increased number of enemy spawn points in Survivals.
  • Fixture Removal will be available in the King of the Hill Creator.
  • The prop limit on PC will be increased to 300.
We always look forward to seeing what the community cooks up — tag your creations with #CommunitySeries on Rockstar Games Social Club and on Twitter/Instagram for a chance to see your Job featured as part of the Community Series.

We’ll be sharing more information soon, and detailed patch notes when GTA Online: San Andreas Mercenaries launches. Stay tuned for more information here on the Rockstar Newswire.

Biggest thing IMO is that they are removing certain vehicles from being for sale on the in game websites and only allowing them as prizes for events now.
