If it is at all unclear: Ralph was fined $500 with a possible addition of $1000 if he does it again.

Vickers actually wanted his attorney fee's paid and in order to do so had to disclose what they were. It's $6000. He can ask for fees again, but it must be refiled, which will cost more money.

So basically Ralph got to pay a $500 fine for calling Vickers a pedophile and Vickers paid $6000 to pursue the damages.

I guess all those tweets about serving the Swine Master are real...

Disagree. The coin merchant now has a legal decision against Ralph. That is a UUUGE difference in the balance of power. Ralph now must watch his words and be a good boy. This also increases the likelyhood of a defamation suit. Could Vickers fuck it up? Probably, but the advantage is now clearly his.

there is no end to the litigation in sight. the vickers can afford it (for now). the ragepig cannot.
at this point it would be a lot cheaper to pay some mexican cartels to kidnap ralph and do another rendition of funky town
what a fucking joke
both of them deserve each other

It's also very likely that Vickers will get a judgement for Ralph to pay his legal fees. $500 ain't shit, but Gunt will go apeshit having to pay $6k. Also, Piggy will start stacking up the fines for every time he violates the agreement now that he's been found guilty of contempt. He might just start shutting the fuck up about Vickers like he did with Adrienne Blair.

We all know Reethan cannot keep his fucking mouth shut. It is only a matter of time before he racks up the full bill.

I’d like to see this continue over the next decade until the judge snaps and orders them both to be imprisoned in the same cell forever.
At that point Ralph and Vickers would mutually hate the judge for not giving both of them what they wanted respectively. Ralph and Vickers would probably share a polite nod before turning back to the judge with absolute rage in their eyes.

Wow, 500 whole dollars?

:story:

I assumed the point of opposing the remote appearance was so Vickers could have the satisfaction of watching him get dragged out in cuffs.

Ralph is prematurely celebrating because the order makes it very clear that the only reason it wasn't granted (at this point) is that it requires a separate motion.
If they go down that route they will end up exposing information about how Vickers' legal strategy is operating behind the scenes. If I recall correctly, in Vickers' copestream after Faith's courtroom disaster the cope about why Mr. Vickers had a lawyer but Faith did not was that he had a lawyer he had a longstanding relationship with for his business, but that the guy didn't do family law.

I don't think he stated this explicitly, but the inference I extracted from it was that this guy was giving him a sweetheart deal on representation - why else would you drag your business attorney into your shitshow of a family life? Vickers can ask for legal fees, but Ralph gets to examine the invoices and see what's going on.

$6,000 really isn't going to be hard to itemize unless the lawyer is a complete sped who kept no records. A few hours for research (and if he used LexisNexis or Westlaw they keep records of that for you), a few hours for drafting the really minimal paper filed in the case, and an appearance or two.

No one is really going to question the fairness of that amount, at least not successfully, although there will probably be some pig squealing about muh constitooshun and I think it was probably YEEEEW who committed contempt.

The issue is whether he's entitled to it at all. And I don't know about that. In the absence of an explicit fee-shifting statute (like in a SLAPP dismissal), it's up to the discretion of the judge, who has so far seemed inclined to go easy on Ralph.

Thing is Vickers can afford to spend money indefinitely just to fuck with Ralph and drag him into the state over and over again, traveling thousands of miles, while Vickers gets to go back to his nice house a few minutes drive away. It doesn't really matter to him to blow a few grand every year to keep Ralph in perpetual check.

I'LL OWN YOU NEXT TIME RALPH
NEXT TIME !!!

I know you don't like Vickers, but it cost Ralph over $8,000 just in lease breaking and damage fees so he could run away to hide in Mexico, plus the expenses of actually moving, plus the frequent travel expenses, plus the -20% loss in revenue due to the dollar collapse against the mexican peso, all to run away scared from a $500 dollar fine.

Even if Vickers doesn't get the attorney fees back, Ralph is STILL at least three times over in the red from this clown show.
