I don't see Dylan going through with the bottom surgery or taking hormones. Those are two big no going back decisions, especially the surgery. Everything he's done up until now can be kicked to the curb whenever he moves on from his housewife bimbo routine.

He reminds me a lot of those 'platinum gays' who brag that they have never touched a vagina because they were born via c-section and hate women. Their entire personality revolves around how gay they are combined with performative misogyny as a replacement for having a personality.

This tiktok is fascinating because there's a momentary glimmer of self awareness there - that he's maybe brought heat on the trans community by acting like a clown and has basically damaged the trans rights movement, which is an accurate assessment (at least for Dylan, JamesIsSmiling is a small fry non-binary positivity influencer with less than 500k follows - basically what Dylan was before he went all in on his "girlhood").
But the cognitive dissonance kicks in and he argues he's not representative of all trans people and is just being himself. Which, sure, that's an argument around "respectability politics", except it doesn't apply when you make yourself the very visible face of the movement on a global platform (if him or Dylan just were swishing around playing barbie dress-up, nobody would really care - our lolcows are lolcows because they dump all this out over the internet) and in Dylan's case met the president. If you want to make yourself a face of the movement, you will be held to be representative of trans people.
As for "there's work to be done" - the work they do is essentially just "visibility". Brand sponsorships and TikTok dances are not activism (I guess Dylan can claim he's raised money for the Trevor Project and had interviews educating people about being trans, but that's essentially like saying Meghan Markle is an "activist" because her and Prince Harry have a charitable foundation together).
I can't imagine being featured in a Trump attack ad is a pleasant feeling, but the reaction we're seeing here is essentially the reaction lolcows have when they find out they have a thread on the farms - they just included a 5 second clip in the main advert.
I suspect while JamesIsSmiling is addressing this to boost the grift/attention (netting himself an article in Rolling Stone), Dylan will probably remain tight-lipped because it's in his interest to keep trying to position himself as a controversy-free PR-approved brand-safe influencer (although that horse has bolted).

I do actually wonder how much of this is his.
The house is most likely rented by CAA. The clothing (minus the Burberry number, pretty sure that one is really his) is probably from a talent closet, rented, or buy-returned.

I think Dylan’s “house” is just a set. He lives in a West Hollywood apartment. He is certainly getting clothes, makeup and bags for free. But he’s also shopping as I see him wear designer goodies he doesn’t tag. Example: Those jeans with the beaded hems he was wearing in the hatchet video are Alice and Olivia and cost $700.00. I’m sure he’s making quite a bit of money but yes, this ride is slowing down and he should be investing rather than buying sparkly pants.
