I mean c'mon though you're essentially using the "I read playboy for the articles" argument here. The amount of people who know that slower stuff actually exists on english speaking forums is low and the percent that actually enjoy it is even less.

You can say that anime people are weird and that they like anime for the weird shit that it presents them with and you'd be right 9 times out of 10 and since I figured out that most anime is just a portmanteau of older, better live action Jap media I don't really mind letting that one good one go.

That is not the anime that is enjoyed by westerners though. Westerns, especially western men, are not running to cutesy, slice of life, anime atleast not exclusively. They pursue the weird coomer shit to such an extent that one can pretty much always write them off. Anime in the west is pretty much always a gateway into weird degeneracy, it can hardly be called a gateway even. Take a look at the anime offered by sites like Netflix, they pretty much all have some oversexualized, impractical depiction of girls/women you know it's going to led further into that sphere of anime.

Anime in the west is a tumor that far too often becomes cancerous, so yeah blanket condemnation makes sense.

No mentally sound woman actually wants her partner to spend any significant amount of time watching pornified depictions of women and children.
