Diseased Open Source Software Community - it's about ethics in Code of Conducts

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I also tried it, and I haven't gotten the message. Has anyone else managed to make the message pop out or is this just an impotent Hector post to make himself look like a cool hackerman?
I never posted anything on HN and don't even have an account, so can't say for sure. Tried poking around the website like you guys but never managed to get the message to appear lol

Wait, you are right. At first I thought he's doing some `:visited` selector abuse or something, but Firefox and Chrome already prevent that for privacy reasons, don't they?
So he claims in the replies to that post at least, but I haven't been able to trigger it myself and can find nothing in the CSS. Maybe he removed it after realizing that this is autistic and retarded? :optimistic:

Yes, I see one guy in the comments claiming it doesn't show up for him, marcan says you need to visit the submit page, guy replies with "aha, neat :3", but never actually tests it, it seems. lmao

Hector Martin is quickly becoming the poster-child for literally worst person in FOSS. Why can't he just be happy working on globohomo bootlicker software for iToddlers? Every 2 or 3 months he's trying to start up a new unhinged campaign against something or someone. Nevermind he's the guy who helped Byuu fake his death.

My idea is he's doing this because he feels he doesn't get enough praise and recognition. Asahi is a project that takes a lot of work and time, but at the end, it's not something the ultimately many people will care about.
If you buy M1 for work, chances are you won't be interested in fiddling with a half-broken, shitty Linux made by a few unhinged online people, because why would you? MacOS, while being well, MacOS, is right here and it works.
And if you are Linux nerd who would like to install it and mess around it for a few days to write a blogpost about it on your personal website, chances are you won't buy an overpriced Appleshit just for that. This leaves people who already have this machine and want to install Asahi for the sake of installing it.
As cool as the idea of having a fully working ARM Linux machine is, marcan is not a next Torvalds by doing it. And judging by the entitlement that oozes from his posts, he seems to think very, very highly of himself and his project. But people treat Asahi as a neat factoid to read on HackerNews while the Docker is shitting itself at work rather than a next revolution in computing and he's tarding out because of this.

And I don't trust this particular psychopath not to pull a node-ipc and do shit like look for the Farms in your browser history and brick your machine if it's there.

And he didn't do it because he "may end up in a shitstorm". Not because, you know, it'd be highly unethical and a major breach of trust for him to pull a retarded stunt like that.
It's not unethical if this is a website he doesn't like, duh.
I think he really removed it. This comment from a few hours ago mentions a white text (that I presume should turn red when the "submit link sniffing" hack kicks in), but it's nowhere to be seen, even when visiting the website from HN links.

The question is, did he remove it because he realized it's a retarded invasion of privacy, or because he realized whatever he was doing doesn't work outside localhost?

It's insane he'd even suggest this. "Too bad I can't build in an OS-level block to a specific website I don't like because the chuds would point out how I implemented an OS-level block to a specific website I don't like". It's all so tiresome.

Jesus christ, what a stupid way to destroy trust. He can't even spin this as like "oh I only fucked with a chud website so it's okay", it's HackerNews, globohomo bugman central.

I literally went to grab a coffee and Hector is thinking of blacklisting HN in the hosts file, he is producing lulz faster than I can read. I really want him to pull a stunt like that, so that his credibility (or whatever is left of it) is finally gone and the Yellowdog for M1 Linux project can be taken over by someone sane, or at least not retarded.

As of right now Asahi Linux webpage does not load show anything for me, even after I visited HN's submit URL, it is also not loading any JS at all and the only own CSS file of the 3 it loads (remaining two are for the font) does not have any shady shit inside. So he either pulled it immediately or it never was there. Hector is a serial liar so I will go with the second option. Notice how the text hides behind the logo, that is shit webdev, he probably added a node with the dev tools and took a screenshot. Absolutely pathetic and cringe.

Oh, the url http s://treehouse.systems/ still shows a defaut nginx hello page, this bumblefuck did not even add a landing page, his mastodon application is on social.treehouse.systems but the handles end with "@treehouse.systems". Fuck logic I guess, not that anyone but us want to read that nonsense.

One sane person showed up but Hector shut him down, how DARE the orange people GOSSIP about our developers?

I like how by proving his point that comments under a post unrelated to asahi were "bad", he just proved that he reads all of the posts and comments on HN just to get butthurt. Hypocrisy much?

MOD NOTE: Edited to remove direct link to treehouse

"they still managed to bring up one of our developers and gossip about them"
Who wants to bet that this "one of our developers" is Asahi Lina ie Hector Martin's weird and creepy vtuber persona that he vehemently denies it's him even though it's literally him? I don't know who else develops Asahi that people would gossip about.

Marcan is so unhinged it's unreal. He acts like threads on HackerNews are literally the equivalent to Russian roulette. This is the perfect example of how the goal of "safety" becomes this unhinged schizo nightmare. Everything is so vague and nebulous. He must protect *SOMEONE* from *SOMETHING* and therefore he has to implement OS-level blocks to a milquetoast walled garden corporate website.

Please take note that IIRC treehouse.systems is ran and operated by kaniini who probably wouldn't think much about committing crimes to attack KF users. I highly discourage you from actually directly connecting to that webserver.

Oh, i forgot to add that in my post above. My guess is 50/50 that it was Hector's creepy Vtuber persona or Alyssa who manages to look like a skinwalker even on the professionally (by the looks of it) taken picture he uses as the profile image.

And you'd be 100% right, see the screenshot I added to that post
I've been saying for months nobody should trust anything done by this lying criminal shit and now it's confirmed out of his own mouth that yes, he is in fact exactly that level of lunatic. I'd consider Asahi dead for any rational person's purposes at this point.

It is a site that has all but deep throated his micropenis for literally years.

It was briefly mentioned in this thread years ago, but it's worth repeating that some Fediverse apps which are supposed to allow you to connect and log in to any instance nevertheless have a hard blacklist of wrongthink nodes. For example, the popular app Tusky blocks Gab and spinster.xyz (a TERF instance):

Note that app stores had already banned Gab's apps on grounds of insufficient censorship of their users.

The next step may be web browsers refusing to go to certain sites, in the same way that the Gab Dissenter browser plug-in was purged. And, once that is normalized, OS-level blocks are not inconceivable.

Anyone with tech knowledge will be able to work around such blocks, but it will do much to keep normies from being exposed to contrary views.
