My favorite thing about Bass has to be the fact he destroys Dr. Wily's other robots simply to prove that he's his best creation.

Thinking back on the old series makes me wish Protoman would have gotten more love. His entire purpose was to be a test run to see if giving robots free will would even work at all. He also gave Wily the experience he needed while upgrading him to go on to design Zero. Not to mention he's Mega Man's "older brother".

He decided against a repair to faulty reactor that could have erased any memories he had, and chose to leave on his own. Him choosing to live his own life and make his own decisions despite his ever-shrinking lifespan just makes him a cool character.

The Battle Network design was cool, and although Chaud has some traces of Protoman's story of becoming his own person and distinguishing himself from his father, it's not quite the same.

I always wanted to see what happened to the original cast before MMX. I want to see Bass try to take on Zero despite him being a superior creation of Wily's, maybe seek upgrades or something to try to overcome him.

Proto Man is definitely cool too, he might be my second favorite. I'm not too big on his BN design, but it's still fine. I think everyone else got better ones. His just looks off somehow.

Inafune got weirdly obsessed with Zero to the point where X was basically a supporting character by X4. Inafune left the series after that game, at which point it went back to being about X and he got a more fleshed out personality. Ironically, he was probably best-written in his most obscure game that almost nobody played: Command Mission.

Not that Zero exactly had a personality in 1-3 either, given that they were SNES platformers, but even as early as the first game, it was about X being inadequate compared to Zero and needing to be saved by him twice. You can really tell that by the time X rolled around, Inafune was sick of the character but was forced to create a direct successor to Mega Man for marketing reasons.

X8 is my personal favorite. even with all the bullshit difficulty unlocks playing through it now gives a appreciation for difficulty especially with the bosses (avalanche yeti was the bomb). It coming out after X7 showed the series wasn't completely dead, and should've been in x7 to begin with.

The main/TW version of X DiVE will be shutting down late September of this year.

The Global version Discord has been in full-on cope mode for the last few hours. The head dev is once again giving nebulous non-answers (as he usually does) to concerns over whether Global will be shutting down alongside Taiwan (even though Global's entire backbone is based upon content and game code made specifically by Taiwan).

The obscurity of command mission didnt help either. It had no advertising for it and it didnt age well at all as a FF7 clone.

Zero never had any personality in the zero games. He's just another anime edgelord with no character to him. Except he's not a faceless customizable husk of armor for the player to experience the world in like the master chief.
Inafune expected us to give a shit about an anime character with little more dialogue than a protagonist in a pokemon game.

Welp, we now know why JP/TW is shutting down:

X DiVE is getting an official offline release.

According to the official site for the game, user data is not transferable from the online version of TW X DiVE and the game will not feature any collaboration content (so no SF5 characters, no MHW/Rise, and no DMC5).

You will, however, be able to convert zenny into EMs, so there's always that.

If you didnt hate Rico's constant roadblocking of the player to forcefeed them basic info on mechanics they figured out hours ago, you will now.

Will give them credit though. Most of this work didn't go to waste in the end like most gachashit does.

Correct. It should be noted that there's speculation that it'll be a title you pay for in lieu of all the gachashit microtransactions being removed from the game.

When are they gonna move this thread to one of lolcow boards? General got tricked by Sigma (I dunno why people keep trusting guys like Sigma and Zoom) and got Repliforce wiped out. What a fuck up. And I hear he streams on Cozy now and had to move out of his space station into his builder's basement. Definitely a lolcow.
