I'd say those numbers are pretty optimistic, and, as usual, leave out marketing. Probably those 8 movies cost closer to 4 billion. And who knows if they actually made what they say, cause most media reporting likes to portray gross receipts as net income for the producer, which it ain't.

But even if we accept those Disney lost over $110M per movie. Then again, if they were able to convince even one set of parents to chop off some of their kids' body parts and put them on life destroying, irreversible drugs, it was all worth it.

Apparently, Elemental is doing so badly at the theatres that Disney has resorted to using fake, manufactured, cam-rip audience reactions. You can literally hear that fake stock child laugh effect, & someone screaming "OH MY GOD!" like it's fucking Endgame. Imagine commiting literal gay-ops marketing kek.

This is more pathetic than the old way of running TV ads that include generic praise for movie from reviewers, even though the movie bombed.

LOL, "diversity is our strength". Ofc they'll double down instead of pivoting towards the other direction, and thus, towards financial solvency. It's like watching a slow-motion trainwreck, lol.
Picking up some of the questions / observations.......

This is the primary source for the article https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNgbuv6wVPc . He's not a "Hollywood Analyst" in the sense of a professional analyst based in Hollywood but a youtuber who analyses Hollywood. However; he's financially literate (accountant by trade I think), and covers the issues in detail including live streaming the earnings calls for these companies. He also discloses his assumptions and workings. The assumptions made are largely generous to Disney mainly understating costs.

His core data is set out on the tables attached so, yes he's shown the data on a film by film basis and GoTG3 appears to have not hit break even. Marketing is included He explains that Avatar 2 is not included as that wasn't a Disney production, Disney being the distributor only.

As 15 minute youtube videos go, it's more informative than most!

Doesn't stop there, anyone else noticed a a shit ton of ads promoting free indy 5 tickets if you spend $35 at Applebee's in order to either
a) improve the abysmal pre-ticket sales and say it beat expectations.
or
b) claim on paper more people went to see it then actually showed up at the theater.

What the fuck is a Clod and why would anybody care?
And now is when somebody tells me that Nigri is now a villain, because that's how fucking villains talk.

How hard is it to write Spiderman? He's a guy who takes pictures, climbs on walls and does Kung Fu. Just have him fight Jackie Chan and Keanu Reeves on the side of the LegCo Complex. People get a punching movie to kill a couple hours with and the Chinese get to be happy that you called Hong Kong China.

They can keep the gay and black stuff for the USA release and their shareholders win. Isn't this just how marvel used to work? Stan pops his head round a corner and tells you who Spidey is going to punch this week, go figure it out?

Generic comic relief character looks like.

Last I checked I believe the X-Men were actual terrorists, not only using the Brotherhood's old MO but paired up with about half their rogue's gallery. As near as I can tell a lot of the Marvel stuff currently is writers living out their violent fantasies about what they would do with these powers.

Gave you a horrifying but Null really has to add an "it's so tiresome" sticker.

Great to see sociopaths get to decide how "heroes" behave.

That's my only surprise. I would expect it to at least break even.
It did break even. In fact, it was a relative success because of the second-week results from the word-of-mouth of people who were pleasantly surprised it was a non-woke, emotionally effective, actually solid movie. It was the least stereotypically 'Disney' film I've seen in years (in fact, the whole thing had this undercurrent of Gunn making a point against much of what modern Disney stands for before his departure from the MCU - big 'G' God canonically exists in the Guardians of the Galaxy films, for example, plus there's heavy themes related to saving children, the inherent value of life and anti-utopianism). It wasn't a billion-dollar seller but it did pass well over 800 mil. at the box office. Not a super-smash, but a hit nonetheless.

It's hilarious that in the last few years they've basically done everything in their power to prove that mutants are a threat to humanity but still seem to want us all to believe that humanity actually responding to that threat is somehow evil. These motherfuckers literally said they plan to basically take over our governments and media for their own benefit and eventually render us extinct and named themselves Homo Superior.

Know who does that? Villains.

Marvel fatigue and by extension superhero fatigue is real.
No, its not, that's pure cope. "X Fatigue" isn't real.

People are fatigued of dogshit movies with bad cgi and dogshit writing. Across the spiderverse did fucking gangbasters because its actually a good movie despite being a superhero multiverse film.

Hack writers and studios like to blame "X fatigue" when audiences catch on and stop watching their garbage, it happened last time with "western fatigue", there was no western fatigue, people got fatigued of studios shitting out 9999 movies a year 9998 of which were iredeemable sewage dragging down the good ones with them in the public eye.

What maravel/superhero movie has come out recently that you think deserved a better reception that it got, but was panned/did badly because of "fatigue"?

Hard disagree, I watched Endgame with a sense of finality and have had 0 interest in anything super hero related. Though I may be an outlier since I pretty much tapped out from all forms of modern western entertainment.

Reminder The X-Men are a metaphor of the Civil Rights Movement which includes the gays.

:story:
It's either a bad allegory because the nigger next door can't barbecue me with fire breath, the old Jewish man down the street is unlikely to be plotting my enslavement or genocide (except maybe George Soros) and the gay dude at the bus stop can't cause a global ice age, or else it's a tacit admission that all these minority groups actually ARE dangerous and bigotry towards them is entirely justified.

Only if you're discussing Perlmutter's fuck FOX X-books and too fucking stupid to not shitcanned those plot lines Disney F-books. X-Men and later other X-books prior to Marvel selling the movie rights to FOX in the early 90ies; been have an in your face metaphor for civil rights for jews, negros, and later gays and other religions.
