Apologies if this was posted already, I don't keep up with this thread.

His post explaining his reasoning mentioned something about scraping. I know AI programs were scraping Reddit, as well as individual users trying to scrape posts before the changes are implemented. Was twitter being hit by something big, or is he just being a faggot and trying to get subs? Like others, I use it for news aggregation. It's the least invasive way to see what's happening in the world, aside from kf. Browsing actual news sites in 2023 is a nightmare.

Which is probably about 10 minutes of scrolling through the "For You" tab.
The verified accounts are allowed 6000 Tweets so it just seems like he's intent on fucking with the non paying portion of the users until they give him money.

600 may sound like a lot but that number is reached surprisingly fast, especially if this includes promoted tweets which it probably does.

I was wondering what the hell was happening, I reached it within about 15 min looking at the news on France, I wouldn't be surprised if all those ads and promoted tweets are counted as well. A social media website that limits how much its users can see is hilariously stupid.

Well the other plausible theory is that it’s the first of the month and he’s run up 1 billion dollars worth of unpaid bandwidth billing with Google.

But I like the self-inflicted random tech changes theory better, with “evil scrapers” being some bullshit platitude to tell to the blue check chuds.

And if this is why Twitter is down it means Musk is lying about the data scraping being the cause. Which means everyone on Twitter can now point at him and call him a lying faggot. Be even funnier if his tweet blaming data scraping got hit with a community note.

Still a "coincidence" given the date. This motherfucker has just not paid people (ergo the numerous lawsuits). Wouldn't be surprised if he changed his mind and went "nah, not doing the payment".
