Probably because (amongst other things), they're the ones doing all the hard work of parenting their siblings. It's easy for women like Karissa and Meech to pop out kids when they know they won't be the ones actually caring for them.

I've never heard of any Jesus freaks IRL here from anyone except at bible camp and mys sister's one Mormon friend but my mom has one working at her retail job right now. She has 6 kids, "homeschools" her kids while working all the time, is divorcing her husband and keeps going to sleep in the bed of some random Tinder guy who has a bed bug infestation and she brought them home and has huge welts on her back, arms etc.
She told coworkers she "doesn't believe" in the "gay lifestyle".
I really hope she gets fired before she gives her bed bugs to coworkers and I am curious what kind of fundie/freak she is that is allowed to divorce.

If the husband leaves, it's the wife's fault because she wasn't godly enough to keep him in the church, if the wife leaves, she is an ungodly whore.

Always found it kind of funny how Protestant fundies, despite claiming they believe "nothing but the Bible", don't tend to accept the actual explicit Biblical grounds for divorce (adultery) as valid, while *sometimes* allowing it for apostasy (which has some traditional precedent, but no explicit Biblical basis)

Fundie men divorcing seems to be better tolerated, like Rusty Yates divorcing Andrea after she went to prison and could no longer fulfill her role as a baby factory.
I really wish the role fundie insanity played in the Andrea Yates case was more widely discussed, as well as what a nasty creepy shithead Rusty Yates is (who absolutely deserves some blame for what happened). When the trial happened that shit felt like it was completely overlooked and everyone was treating Rusty like an innocent victim, and even to this day outside of dedicated fundie-criticizing spaces it's not really discussed.

What caught my eye about this story is that not only were girls being abused and it not reported at this church/school, but apparently girls as young as 11, 12 years old were encouraged to date grown-ass adult men. Fundies not only diddling kids, but running a damn grooming academy.
Meanwhile in Alabama, a megachurch has built a center for sex pest pastors to chill and evade consequences for their actions.
Remember when fundies try to paint all LGBTQ people as pedophiles that this is the shit they're getting up to.

I assumed both cases involved Southern Baptists. I was right on the second one(nondenominational churches are often just off-brand Southern Baptist churches), wrong on the first one. Holy rollers aren't any better, though.
