Ukrainian Defensive War against the Russian Invasion - Mark IV: The Partitioning of Discussion

.... if they intentionally cause a nuclear meltdown that they know will send radiation across NATO borders, it is not much different.

There's a good chance the radioactive cloud would flow down to Turkey, which would for sure harden Erdogan against Russia.
Yep. Turkey would get some later (along with Africa & Southwest Asia), but looks like the rest would blanket Moldova, Romania, etc.

Edit:
More T-55s seen moving by rail through Voronezh.

One even has a gaming skin, courtesy of Gaijin. Or maybe WoT/WG, since they're technically still Russians. 🤔

Looks like they're going to double-down on TBIEDs. They did just get a new batch tank & vehicle drivers for their penal-brigades, after all.

And speaking of which....
Prigozhin picks up his confiscated personal firearms in St. Petersburg.
On Tuesday, Prigozhin was returned two Saiga rifles, an Austrian Steyr Mannlicher rifle, an AR semi-automatic rifle and several other rifles and pistols.

Soon he got out, and the people accompanying him took out their rifles and put them in the car. The motorcade left.

A few hours earlier, the leader of Wagner PMC was officially invited to take back his weapons found during the searches on 24 June and seized in his country residence in the elite cottage village of Northern Versailles.

Last year when people were poking fun at emerging pictures of HOBOPOCCNER soldiers being equipped with WW II surplus ziggers coped that they will only do rear guard duty, and the ones that are fed into the Donbass meat grinder in human waves to pin the Ukrainian army there, while the Big Russians quickly take Kyiv, obviously use proper equipment.

I guess those fat times are gone.

Apparently the endless Soviet depots didn't contain enough small arms to equip even half a million soldiers?

Edit: sorry forgot source

They did

Before the small arms got sold off to everybody and their sister from Indonesia to Peru while the paperwork showed the armories were still full. Of course everything is in order Mr. Colonel of the Inspectorate. Here's 50000 rubles, sign off that all our AKs are here in good condition and go away please

The real kicker is the guy mostly responsible got handed back to Russia in exchange for a niggress pothead, pardoned, and then....
On 10 December, Bout supported the Russian invasion of Ukraine and said that he would volunteer if given the opportunity and skills.

On 12 December 2022, Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) leader Leonid Slutsky announced that Bout had joined the LDPR. On July 2, 2023, Viktor was nominated to run for a seat in the Legislative Assembly of Ulyanovsk Oblast as a member of the LDPR.
Guaranteed he's back to doing what he does best, and Russian gear sent to LDPR is being diverted to Syria, Africa, Myanmar, etc.

Besides maybe Mexico & Somalia, Donetsk has got to be one of the hottest arms markets on the planet, so it makes sense he'd land there. When the fighting ends I hope the floodgates open like a blown-up dam, and we'll be able to buy Ukrainian battlefield pick-ups & "surplus" (daddy needs some artillery). While he probably won't deal with us anymore, the rest of the world definitely will.

The Russian ammo dump in Makiivka; earlier drone surveillance & big badaboom later.
I decided to collect it because it is a good showcase.

Makiivka. Good evening.

Makiivka. The pundits are now saying that the target of the shelling and the epicenter of the cotton was the local second hospital.

Let's look again at the video of the hit and the hospital where the windows just flew out. As always, the bastards kept silent about the most interesting 🤡
source

Did they really? Let's see.
MOSCOW, July 5 - RIA Novosti. At least 25 people were injured as a result of the Ukrainian armed forces' strike on Makiivka, including two children, DNR acting head Denis Pushilin said.
"Late in the evening, the enemy dealt fierce strikes on residential areas and a hospital complex in the Chervonogvardeysky district of Makiivka... As of now, 25 casualties are known, including two children wounded: a girl 2 years 9 months old and a boy 7 years old. All are being provided with the necessary medical care", - wrote Pushilin in the telegram channel.
He specified that a number of residential buildings, hospital, school and kindergarten buildings were damaged.

As of right now, they posted more than a dozen articles on this vile Ukrainian attack on the civilians of Donbass. They all have content along the same lines: Hospitals, schools and recreational facilities as well as residential areas were destroyed by a Ukrainian missile attack, with plenty of pictures of broken windows and little else. No mention of ammunition depots.

I think it's mandatory to remember this other piece of journalism by the intellectual giants at RIA Novosti (they were also the ones who messed up with the premature victory celebration).

Anyway let's see the Ukrainian response:
Makiivka, more precise location of the hit on the warehouse with the BC [48.0667548, 37.9016334] (https://maps.app.goo.gl/dgq1Z2EHoVJqx9rN8?g_st=ic)

In the courtyard of the unfinished high-rise buildings, the orcs kept a large number of BCs, especially for BM-21 Grad. The BC continued to detonate for about 3 hours.

The blast wave blew out a window for 3 km. The faggots continue to say that the target of the shelling was the second hospital. It is very "appropriate" to deploy warehouses among residential areas.

TL note: Katsap is a slur for ethnic Russians.
Katsaps have placed a large warehouse with ammunition for MLRS in the yard of an unfinished residential area. Yesterday, due to smoking in this warehouse and non-compliance with safety rules, this warehouse blew up. It was quite by chance that our drone flew by 🌚.

Special thanks to the local residents who highlighted the location of the warehouse and who are waiting for Ukraine's return 🇺🇦

Makiivka. Photos of the remains of an unfinished building where an ammunition explosion occurred. The shells that were in the buildings flew hundreds of meters.

Will the Russians continue to talk about the targeted shelling of the hospital? 🤔 We have once again brought the katsaps to the cleaners.
source contains full pictures, I didn't them interesting enough to upload all individually

Generous Russian authorities claim they abducted evacuated 700k Ukrainian children, but their own citizens still live on top of frontline ammunition dumps.

Now more than ever, I think Kadyrov has been trolling Putin & pulled one of the biggest military grifts in recent history.

Russian Wooden Armor Mania for Military Vehicles Has Reached New Levels

All the various ways in which russians improve the armor of their military vehicles have almost become an entire section of our articles but the next one is unique. Photos found by the Telegram channel Dosye Shpiona show a russian Ural truck "armored" with elements made of wood.

With respect to the question, what kind of threat these enhancements are supposed to protect against, it is difficult to say for sure. A standard AK-74 rifle available to any Ukrainian soldier can pierce through 20 cm of wood at any effective combat distance. The idea, though, is understandable: the engine is covered with shutters, attached to the front of the truck with wire. Three more blocks cover the wheels from the front and reduce the clearance. And another two wooden boards fix the shutters while also being part of the cabin side protection. All these parts are kept together by a wire, too.

On the flip side, we should note how nattily the doors were covered while preserving access to the handle. Apparently, the very same wire is connecting them to the door itself. Also, the additional protection of the wheel well deserves attention. The board is held on hinges fastened with exactly one self-tapping screw. Too bad the artisan did not use the screws for securing the wooden blocks on the fuel tank as well.

There is also wooden armor on the back side of the cabin but the most interesting part is the design solution used for covering the top from threats incoming from the upper hemisphere.

As we can see, the cabin is protected by a wire mesh which at this point became another object of the russian cargo cult as this net is believed to neutralize every sort of threat, ranging from shaped charge projectiles to large-caliber machine guns. Although we should note that in certain conditions, a metal net can prove effective against, for example, suicide drones, although it doesn't apply to vehicles if used like in this photo.

We did much the same with our prime-movers & deuces in Iraq, circa 2004.

Though that was only for the initial & final convoys through Baghdad; we covered the wood with armox plates, and painted/covered any fucking exposed wood. Done right & it could be made to look like legit armor kits, along with being somewhat functional spaced armor. But if haji had seen us rolling around in mobile diesel-filled tinderboxes, everybody & their clan cousins would've been taking a shot; because that's just asking for it.

Wouldn't wood-covered vehicles also be delicious targets to uppity civilians with molotovs? Seems to me like a well-thrown one could cause a bigger problem, at least temporarily, than would occur if the wood wasn't there at all.

LDPR doesn't refer to DPR/LPR. It's a political party, pretty much seen as the controlled opposition zigger party.

Quoting Wikipedia:
The LDPR seeks "a revival of Russia as a great power".
The LDPR regards the United States and NATO[71] as Russia's main external threats. The party has harshly criticised the discrimination against ethnic Russians in the Baltic states and demanded that they should be given Russian citizenship and protected against discriminatory legislation.[2] The LDPR is also against corruption[72] and enlargement of the European Union, identifying as a Eurosceptic party,[73] instead preferring pan-Slavism.[13]
Although it often uses radical opposition rhetoric, the LDPR frequently votes for government proposals. This has led to speculation that the party receives funding from the Kremlin.[46]

Ulyanovsk Oblast is also part of Russia itself and not very near the front lines.

One way of interpreting it is that he's been rewarded with a political figurehead position. Another possibility is that he's going to be another Strelkov. I don't know enough about Russian politics to say which it is.
Wouldn't wood-covered vehicles also be delicious targets to uppity civilians with molotovs? Seems to me like a well-thrown one could cause a bigger problem, at least temporarily, than would occur if the wood wasn't there at all.
Probably, but I wouldn't expect to see molotovs anywhere near the current fighting. Any frontline soldier would be using an ATGM and any partisan would be targeting logistics. A concern would be having more weight, a higher profile and more difficulty escaping the vehicle.

We are out of Kontakt-1 and imperialistic western sanctions have blocked advanced metals, but Russia has plenty of trees. Smekalka, comrade!

Minority report: it looks jank as hell but is going to be moderately effective against small arms and indirect shrapnel. Perfectly fine for the cabin uparmor. Rememebr the Mythbusters episode where they did the Burn Notice thing of armoring a car with phonebooks and it was effective till they brought out the .50 barret.
You can talk about effectiveness vs. weight but I'd take what I could get.

As you said they should be putting at least sheet metal on the outside to make some ghetto Slavic Composite - metal to deform the bullet, wood to absorb impact and slow it down, truck shell metal as a fragment barrier. Even if the rounds penetrate you'll have robbed a lot of kinect energy from them so it might turn a lethal shot into a slow death from blood loss and shock because lol russian medevac injury.

The wood bumper is great for inexperienced drivers so they aren't ramming steel into things they can't see. The only "dumb" part is the wooden radiator armor. That isn't going to do shit against anything that matters - you're just making your engine run hotter by trapping air.

Yes but no. to tl;dr those aren't armored trucks. Anything that would burn hot enough to ignite the wood is going to be bad enough the burning wood will be the least of your problems.

Let's watch as vatniks ignore obvious lies by the "based" Russian state media for the nth time.
If they were able to think critically, they wouldn't be Vatniks.

You'd think we could find common ground laughing at Journocope, but when its a pro-russia source suddenly everything is complete unassailable truth, including the 3,000 HIMARs and patriot batteries and 70,000,000 polish mercenaries killed in the past 8 hours.

His wig collection.
I'm still looking for the "shitload of guns" pictures, because now I'm curious.

Twitter & reddit fags are saying this kill was made by a BMP, but I dunno. BMP-2 & 3s have a pretty high rate of fire for their auto-cannon & the elevated tracers certainly could've been, but the money shot came from a different direction a bit slower. Maybe a rocket?

Taken somewhere on the southern front, but it won't be long before the warehouse & firing positions get geolocated, if not already been done.

Update:

That was fast....
