The account I made was able to interact with actual public figures if it had chosen to (yes I did test this). On a related note - how do those services still work? Do they work at all? I really don't pay much attention to the twitter drama other than reading pissy comments from nerds whose tears bring me small amounts of happiness so I don't really know the specifics of the API changes other than it became more expensive.
