General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

they're hiring basket case women to stream on the internet, not improv masters to uphold a character setting for 30 hours live on stream every week.
this. I don't know why people except cute animu streamers to be method actors for years several hours a week. the only thing that might change is not going into certain topics or stave of certain aspects (to keep it seiso) and do a voice, but the rest is still more or less what you get with or without the model. miko in real live is as much a pon-master (if not more) than when she plays minecraft. kson still gives no fucks, which was the same reason people watched a certain orange dragon - granted this was even more exciting in the context of hololive, which might be actually what people miss.

I'd go as far and say their streamer "persona" is probably even more honest after they settled in - they can hide behind the avatar, know people like who and how they are and it might even be a profitable success, so they let loose. just compare pippa's early streams to now (of course that can lead to a self-reinforcing circle where they think they have to act a certain way because "that's what their audience likes", but that's a general group dynamic and a different topic anyway).

Like legitimately the only holo I can think of who showed concern for character setting stuff at any point was in the early days of "kurokami" Fubuki showed concern about overusing the alter ego too much because "I was chosen to be fubuki not some other character" other than that every single holo down to the OGs in the company leaves kayfabe by the wayside 95% of the time.
foxfriend is pretty smart, either kurokami would get boring if done too much or too many people thirst too hard and possibly split her viewers.
I mean imagine getting this every day:
just think of the amount of dommy mommy simp money flying her way...

This is definitely true. Look at all the popular female fleshtubers, they all put a lot of effort into looking attractive and are not necessarily the most interesting or witty people (to say the least). Vtubing allows all of the wonky looking fem-NEETS who might be good entertainers or have a genuine overlap in interests with their nerdy audience to not have to rely on looks to pull an audience.
fucking zoomers man.
everybody old enough knows personality > looks. that's why I would wife the squirrel in an instant.

and she did it with the other funny number of videos!

I don't care if it's one of the forbidden words:
CHUUNI
AS
FUCK
also cute, birthday deserves both c-words

EDIT: "I'm way past my streamtime, I feel like such a rebel". then gets the day wrong :story:
delinquent sheep really deserves all the c-words today :feels:

EDIT2: apparently the sheep is sloshed, but what's hilarious there's not much difference to her usual behavior. now I want an offcollab drinking stream with uruka.

It would be difficult for Pippa to fake her persona, since I would say there is a lot of evidence to back it up: we've seen ants on her stream, she has had problems with her teeth twice now I think, and the abomination that is her keyboard which she apparently thought is not that bad, in my opinion point towards it not being an act.

I don't think Pippa really needs the pink rabbit RP to really sell herself, her audience will follow her around no matter what.
While I think this is largely true, I do like her cutesy avatar, name, and voice, since that is in such stark contrast to much of her personality and behavior, and I find that amusing.

Pippa is genuinely too autistic to keep up a fake personality; she instinctively overshares things which wouldn't help with any kind of grift - the shit with the ants doesn't fit into either the "uwu cute waifu" or "she needs me to fix her" schtick a lot of people would try to pander to, it's just gross, as a lot of her audience regularly tell her.

In general I feel like the assumption streamers are faking a personality is giving them too much acting credit, if anything. It's easy enough to pick one or two traits to play up if they so desired, like reciting political talking points or pretending they don't have a boyfriend, but keeping an entire act going for several hours a day, completely unscripted, for years on end isn't realistic; even the most kayfabe-heavy vtubers let the mask slip from time to time.

watched a bit of Eliras persona 4 streams. her reaction to some of the cutscenes are hilarious but the chats reaction is pretty sad. the hole "its 2009, it was a different time" and calling Yousuke a creep and a homofob is pretty sad. i guess teenagers today are either full blown degenerates or extreme purists with no in between. if there is one thing persona 4 dose very well, its to capture how it feels to be a teen in a boring ass town with nothing to do.

It's worse, zoomers are obsessed with posturing (which is natural but social media warped the natural impulse to belong to a peer group into something grotesque) but it's extremely shallow and the social and political positions they're defending have essentially been trained into them. That's why you can see a lot of hypocrisy and disconnect between what they preach and what they do and say elsewhere and also why they'll get extremely angry when you challenge their words: they'll either be unable to formulate any reply (making them look like fools, which is your fault for "mocking" them) or just repeat their chosen scripture/program with plenty of condescending appeals to authority (but it'll lmost never be specific unless you're speaking with someone who is already an activist).
If they reach a certain level of maturity and if they end up having to wrestle with real world for a while, there's a strong chance they'll actually start thinking and formulating their own opinions but otherwise, zoomers thoughts and opinions are entirely worthless. Just ignore them - they were fine with dismissing anything "boomers" said with the ok boomer meme so it's appropriate for them to get a taste of their own medicine.

End of sperging, have a spooder:

Yosuke was a realistically written teenage boy who represented how a lot of schoolkids acted up until just a few years ago when fun was outlawed. When I was in school, if someone was acting a bit fruity everyone would make a jab, like Yosuke does to Kanji.

Given that even just seeing a character on screen requires them to give all these disclaimers to prove they don't support what's ultimately some harmless fun makes me pity the more normal kids out there now who're just trying to get through school without going insane.
