Why does Patrick lie incessantly and needlessly?

We know he's not delusional, because he actually manages to be much more careful with his lies when he talks to allies/journalists/judges.
In those contexts, he admits to easily-researched stuff like the debt, and only sticks to the fibs and exaggerations he can get away with.

It's only when responding to "an enemy", such as the stalker-childs, that he lies incessantly.
Whenever a stalker-child accuses him of something, no matter how obviously true, Pat has to forcefully deny it.

So why does he do that?

• THEORY 1: It's an abuse tactic.
  Patrick hates his enemies, and in keeping with his tough-guy persona, wants to be as dickish to them as possible.
  He knows enough pop psychology to understand that gaslighting is an abuse tactic, so he tries to use it.
  It's not actually lying, you see, 'cuz these are not normal conversations - they're cover fire against the enemy, who don't deserve truthful interaction. Haven't actually lied once, stlaker.
  
  
• THEORY 2: It's a personality disorder.
  The problem with theory 1 is that Pat doesn't merely do this in his private phone chats with his stalker-childs, but also in public Twitter conversations where both stalker-childs and normies are involved. Heck, he does it to normies who became an "enemy" on the spot for the crime of disagreeing with him on something. And he doesn't see how bizarre, unreasonable, and dishonest this makes him appear.
  This suggests that it's a compulsion. He can't let anything stand that was said by a perceived enemy, because he can't let an enemy have "a win".
  Patrick once quipped about having oppositional defiant disorder (ODD). It probably wasn't a joke - more like an understatement.

Either way, it's funny - and a big part of what makes Pat a lolcow.
