I remember listening to the last time, or at least one of the last times, where Metokur called in and was not so subtly digging at him for giving Ralph a pass. This was episode 30 and 31. Reading the transcripts of the episode it doesn’t read like Maddax was disgusted, more like he was circumspect of discussing it on the show. Eric July sought to take advantage of this depression period by starting his own comic universe with the spearhead book being Isom; however, a litany of delays, empty promises and cringeworthy boasting on Twitter led people to believe he was a grifter who was going to profit off comic fans desperate to escape the current goyslop hell and not deliver.

Isom did eventually come out and was promptly mocked by everyone (including Dick and Vito) for being mid in every department, which prompted Eric confronting Dick on livestream and deflecting as hard as humanly possible. It showcased to everyone that Eric acts identically IRL as he does on Twitter and will counter any shade thrown his way with sarcasm, deflection and boasting; his favorite apparently being the "define X" bant in every argument.

There's no solid evidence that whatever Eric's doing is a scam, but given his behavior it's seems more likely than not. The Isom debacle, to me anyway, is pretty reminiscent of the Channel Awesome game show grift where they got $90k from fans and delivered an absolute shit product.

1) The whole thing about him making a promise to backers and not delivering is its own issue, but Dick is directly accusing him of defrauding a charity and saying he didn't donate money he raised. I don't what the deal is with that and how legitimate it is.
