Sega - It's more than just Sonic Autism

Are you warming up to that idea of mine of just sticking Skies of Arcadia in as a playable bonus within Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth?
It'll be like with Homefront: The Revolution with the full Timesplitters 2 game as an easter egg, but considerably easier to do since it'll be a ROM and emulator (instead of a source port).

Plus, they could potentially get more sales and get more people into both Yakuza and SoA.

272 page PDF of Internal Classified Sega documents from 1997 leaked

Attached as a local archive. Was briefly discussed in the Sony thread, but since this pertains to Sega, I figure I'd stick it in it's proper thread
"We are killing Sony. In every [store in Japan], Saturn hardware is sold out and there are stacks of Playstation. The retailers commented they can't compare the true sales rate because Saturn sells out before they can measure accurately. [...] I wish I could get all our staff, sales people, retailers, analysts, media, etc. to see and understand what's happening in Japan; they would then understand why we will win here in the U.S. eventually."

I dunno, I feel a bit of passive-aggressiveness there from good old Tom.

Sega President Explains Why A Sega Saturn Mini May Not Be On The Cards Just Yet

"The Sega Saturn is surprisingly high performance, so the difficulty of miniaturisation is [...] high.
“I don’t think it’s a case of saying ‘let’s make another one because it sells well’, it looks like it’s going to be a little longer.
“I’d like to think about it when we’re in a situation where we can openly develop it together with people who have always loved the Sega Saturn and Dreamcast.”
How about directing the resources you're wasting on mediocre Sonic games towards making Saturn emulation easier? Did that ever occur to you, you Jap fucknugget?

fucking called it
I would LOVE to hear their excuse for when they inevitably say they can't/won't. One excuse i can think of that they would probably go with is regards to Porting those games over due to how the saturn is coded would be hard work - Even though these games were already ported onto the PS2 for the "SEGA AGES" collection, so unless they lost the code, there's really no excuse for it. Hell, they can do what Sony did for the PS1 Mini and use an open-source emulator for the saturn (which there are a few)

Why not just license some emulator and sell Sega Saturn ISOs, like they do with Sega Genesis Collection on Steam?

You know, considering PC gaming adoption rates in Japan rising, they might be better off just releasing a Steam-based console preloaded with Sega games. Like a small form factor PC that looks like a Dreamcast, with a Dreamcast controller, and all of the Dreamcast & Sega Genesis Collections just right on there. That'd be nice.

That thing sucks. The Minis are at least a well-made products, for what they are.
Well yeah, it doesn't have to have a front-end. I was thinking more along the lines of how DOSBox games are sold on Steam, all with their own copy of DOSBox and scripts to launch them and keep DOSBox out of the sight of the player as much as possible.

Well, it still sucks behind the front-end too, one would think Genesis emulation would be a thoroughly solved problem and yet here we are. The Saturn ports to modern systems that exist are often plagued by input lag, maybe less important for rpgs and such, but even Sega they did some modern Saturn ports I wouldn't count on them to be done very well.

Fusion is an obviously very easy Genesis/Game Gear/Master System emulation for me.

Even their not-so-modern Saturn ports didn't fair well either.

Nights Into Dreams being prime example #1 with the way the character controls. Rather than doing perfect circles, the PS2 (and even PC versions) had the characters perform rounded squares.

The PS2... with analogue controls that could do 360s with ease... couldn't perform 360s with ease. Let that sink in.

It's like Sega really shat on the Saturn a whole lot
