The US soldier who crossed the border into North Korea in a suspected defection shouted "ha ha ha" as he ran, a witness has said.

A US service member reportedly crossed the border into North Korea from the demilitarized zone (DMZ) - the heavily fortified border between North and South Korea.

The United Nations Command reported the incident and stated that the individual is now believed to be in North Korean custody.

The witness, who was part of the same tour group visiting the DMZ, gave their account of the incident.

According to the witness, they had just visited one of the buildings at the site when they heard a man give out a loud "ha ha ha" and saw him run in between some buildings.

The witness told CBS News: "This man gives out a loud 'ha ha ha,' and just runs in between some buildings. I thought it was a bad joke at first, but when he didn't come back, I realizsed it wasn't a joke, and then everybody reacted and things got crazy."

A US official said the service member was initially being escorted back to the United States for disciplinary reasons but somehow managed to return and join a border tour before crossing into North Korea.

The witness mentioned that military personnel reacted quickly to the man's actions, but there was initial confusion.

They stated that there were no North Korean soldiers visible where the man ran, likely due to the border restrictions enforced during the coronavirus pandemic.

After the man crossed the border, the tour group was rushed back to the Freedom House, where everyone had to provide statements about the incident before being taken back to their bus, he said.

The witness was deeply affected by the incident and shared their emotions about it. On the way back on the bus, they counted the number of people who went in and came back, realising that one person was missing.

They said: "I'm telling you this because it actually hit me quite hard," the witness said. "It was on the way back in the bus, and we got to one of the checkpoints... Someone said we were 43 going in and 42 coming back."

The DMZ separating North and South Korea is heavily fortified, and the incident adds to the tension between North Korea and the US, South Korea, and Japan.

North Korea has been conducting missile and rocket tests, while the US expects North Korea to conduct a new nuclear weapon test.

The US recently sent a nuclear-armed submarine to South Korea, which further adds to the tensions.

Kim Jong Un's sister warned the US against reinforcing its commitment to defend South Korea, threatening a move away from negotiations.

The situation remains sensitive, given the unresolved Korean War and the presence of US troops in South Korea.

Might be worth it if he avoids punishment and they give him a waifu and 3 meals a day. Not worth it if they stick him in a prison camp until he dies of tuberculosis or something.
If only we could get those Climate whiners into a plane and crash it into the DMZ.

Survivors get to live under Communism, real Hunger Games style.

The Running Man meets Interceptor... this has potential as a weekly game show!

The NK Officer in charge is probably over the moon with joy at the fact a job promotion just fell onto his lap like that. He and his family will probably get double rations this month from Dear Leader. Which might be the most good this retarded defector has ever done to someone in his life if it pans out he was on track for a dishonorable discharge for assault.

How much of a fucking idiot do you have to be to think that being forever stuck in NK is better than a stint in Leavenworth Disciplinary Barracks?

Normally, low-level defectors to either side defect because they are in trouble. Have seen this a number of times. Obviously this doesn't apply to pilots who fly to the South.

Last US defection I remember was in 1983. We were on duty that day when Army Private Joseph White defected to the North. From what I saw he didn't look too happy there and died, allegedly drowned, in 1985. I laughed when I heard what happened to White.

This guy will have little useful information to give the North Koreans, and I really don't think he will like it there at all. Soon he will wish he'd gone back to the States. He may not even be smart enough to learn enough Korean to be a translator. They'll keep him a while for propaganda purposes but doubt he has any future there. He may get kicked out, maybe "drown", etc.

Dumb fuck may have laughed when he went north but the joke's on him.

We don't have Privates Second Class. We have Privates First Class (one stripe and a rocker), E-3, Privates Two (one stripe), E-2, and Privates (no stripe), E-1. If this guy was black he may have quite a time in the North. Koreans overall don't like black people.

There’s an old Dead Kennedy’s song called “Holiday in Cambodia” that essentially talks about how privileged people who want real equality should just go visit Pol Pot’s Cambodia

Anyways, I find that song more and more relevant and hilarious day by day

Burger bros what are we doing we need those meatshields can you guys feed them better and provide them with prostitutes and drugs as needed
I wonder where all the drugs and prostitutes have went since Biden took the White House. Oh wait.

Edit: Thinking about this more, maybe he had a good reason to defect. Imagine being a zogbot now, having to deal with diversity training, being told you're evil because of your skin color, being berated by Sergeant Shaniqua on the daily, dealing with incompetent fucktards being promoted over you because of their race. Fuck, I'd consider the Norks to be a better option than this too.

They don't do courtmarshalls and dishonorable discharges for simple assault. This stupid guy really fucked up.
Yup, it was bad enough that the Koreans retained jurisdiction on him. For something minor the Koreans hand you back to the US, with the understanding you will face military justice. This applies only to US military in Korea under the Status Of Forces Act (SOFA). Personally, spent two tours, 39 months in Korea, had some escapades, but never got into any trouble. Koreans are used to drunks, this guy must have hurt someone enough to draw blood (a big deal in Korea) and possibly robbed someone. They don't fuck around on that shit.

"Deeply affected"
Fucking tourists
I think this is just as funny as the "defector" apparently does. Honestly, the US should pull a Castro and send all our retards across the NK border...
You'd think if diversity was truly our strength we'd be spreading some diversity to impoverished famine wrought places like Best Korea

They forgot the last part:
