I think it’s worse than Josh describes and I’m alarmed at how vacuously it is discussed.
1). “Tomboys” basically didn’t exist back in le day. As a trope it came about with media and the way young girls who didn’t immediately fit in with other girls would be depicted
2). The trope evolves, anime comes in and makes this trope into a trope for young love romances because they are implicitly an underdog so it’s more dramatic.
3). Men with the same taste as children watch this and turn the Tomboy into a popular tag on their doujin websites
The tomboy is not about wanting a man at all. It’s wanting to go back to pre-adolescence where girls were simple. This obviously leads to dark places.

I'm seeing rumblings on /x/ where anons are mad that Dead Rabbit Radio, who has hundreds of paranormal podcasts and 4-digit views on YouTube, is upstaged by Wendigoon's success with the conspiracy theory iceberg videos. Wendigoon's a mild friend of Turkey Tom despite being a /k/ommando christian, and everyone is pretty clear that Wendigoon scripted the right content at the right time & appears humble and presentable on camera. Still, some stubborn anons think it's a deep state jewish conspiracy and others troll the fuck out of Dead Rabbit Radio just because. I just see it searching for the most authentic and fresh creepypasta around.
On the other hand with MATI, some people superchat something time-sensitive or responsive to the topic at hand, and it's horribly out-of-date by the time Josh reads it at the end. It's almost like a mini re-reading of the whole episode by the viewers. I think it's tough and there's no easy answers. You can't read the time and context-sensitive ones instantly, but also easily filter the random ones out for the end. Parasocial relationships are hard.

You know, at first, I literally couldn't give less of a fuck about ralph and his shitty drama. Everytime josh would get to the ralph segment I would groan and just wait for it to be the fuck over already.
But after being forcefuly exposed to it by josh for about 50 or so mati episodes its started to grow on me and now I eagerly await next week's ralph segment.

I never cared about Ralph until someone was willing to fly from the UK to Portugal on a weekend just to scour the streets and rough him up a little. THAT'S dedication. You have to be fucking hated internationally for a stranger to do that to you. Most of the drama has flown over my head since then, but he's an interesting little man sometimes. I'm still amazed he interviewed StoneToss in the ancient past.
