Barbie - A More Successful Movie than You'd Think

LOL this barbiheimer shit is my indication to stay away from both movies. Genius marketing from the powers that be, but also a red flag that both movies are trash
I don’t think that’s a marketing thing, just an internet meme thing. Like when Animal Crossing and Doom came out on the same day.

Like I’m pretty sure the Oppenheimer guy was annoyed by it.

hey wait a minute

this film is depicting a matriarchal utopia that oppresses and marginalizes the men
and then the men rise up and do the same thing to the women

and then the women take their society back?

did
did they not bother to think for even a single second on what that implies?

“No no, you see, they portray all the men as stupid, vapid and lazy, so clearly they’re the bad guys!”

Wasn't there an old (1950s or '60s) Twilight Zone or Outer Limits episode with the exact same plot line?

I find it absolutely bizarre that Ryan Gosling brought out so much enthusiasm and goodwill as Ken, bringing in people who otherwise would never be interested in a Barbie movie, and they didn't think to do some reshoots or something to make him not the villain. It might make the movie more of a mess than it already is, but I'm perplexed that they would tank such an easy slam dunk like that.

Wait why does Ken go back to establish the Patriarchy? The guys were engaging only in recreation? The very thing the media typically complain of. "Manchildren"
And apparently all it takes for them to take over and turn the women into helpless girlfriends/wives/ect is “hey, did you know patriarchy is a thing?”
