Barbie - A More Successful Movie than You'd Think

I never understood why people would want to see either movie. Margot Robbie seems like a massive cunt and I’ve never enjoyed her in a movie.

The Irish Guy in Oppenheimer is basically just a sign that whatever you are watching is going to be fart huffing shit. I’ve never understood why people like him, he seems like someone who’s more suited in being a secondary character.

Margot Robbie was formerly known as the "hot one" on the Australian Drama "Neighbors". Popular Australian stars are typically picked up by Hollywood if they are willing to run the casting couch/yachting scene.

The celeb rumormill tells me theres a sex tape Richard Branson has of her with Emilia Clarke, before they got world famous.

Just watched the double feature. Oppenheimer was decent though it was hard to follow. Barbie was doghit and not even funny on accident. They were unironically taking the 41 and the fat completely seriously and acting like they were hot. Walked out after half an hour, I don't know hwy I didn't trust you guys.

So instead of it ending with "let's all work together" or "both Kens and Barbies should be equal", it's instead "keep Barbieland the way it is, because fuck Kens! They're men." Talk about a nothing story since nothing changes. I shouldn't be surprised but...really? No nuance whatsoever.

Also, this isn't related to the above paragraph, but...is the trans Barbie actually trans in the movie? Like, was it once a Ken but now a Barbie? If that's the case, I want to see how THAT happened.

You described what I did, but you went in looking for a reason to dislike it where as I looked at it objectively.

Ken is the equivalent of many, many, many women in other movies. It's a role-reversal and it's hilarious to defend his story arc when there are hundreds of movies where women play the exact same character and no one says anything about it.

I think he embodied the fragility of modern men pretty well but we will agree to disagree.
Ah, there it is.

No Ken is not the equivalent of many, many, many women in other movies. Ken is what some women perceive fictional women to be in many, many, many other movies kind of like the myth of the "black people always die first in horror movies" being some super-common trope.

Okay.

But keep on being ignorant.

Anyways enjoy this sausage-fest crying about the Barbie movie.

Your bias is really starting to come out. Assuming it’s only men that don’t like the film when I’ve seen plenty of women have major issues with the film as well.

To imply that’s a “sausage-fest crying” about the movie says way more about you than anything.

It's definitely female posters disparaging themselves in this thread like retards. Certainly not just average A&H posters.

About three people admitted to watching the actual movie and the rest are making guesses about what feminist message hurt their egos. I've seen people try harder discussing the context of Foodie Beauty's rages than whatever weird circle jerk is happening here.

I’m sorry you’re salty people think the movie is shit.

I think people (maybe mostly dudes) are realizing for the first time that Ken is the air head. Ken enjoyed simping for Barbie and wanted to marry her and his only purpose was Barbie.

Assuming Ken was an airhead and had no marketable skills as the film clips explained. How was he able to convince everyone to go along with his plan when he got back to Barbieworld? Then it would make out like all the dolls are airheads.

I haven't seen the movie, but what is the reasoning and motivation of Barbie to turn "Kenworld" back into Barbieworld? Just because the real world wasn't Barbieworld? That's it?

Then you fall into a postmodernist arguement. If that identity group has the power, then your identity group must have the power. Power is all that matters. Power of your identity group bloc. So you end up in an neverending cycle of infighting. Which I suspect the people at the top would love.

Now you aren't paying attention to them, your entire life is consumed with Men vs Women, or Blacks vs Whites. etc etc,

They are loving this. They have you exactly where they want you. Primal tribalism.

Honestly who cares if it's good or bad, the movie will make bank because they got Ryan Gosling and if they got any sequels without Ryan it'll fucking tank.

Seeing the clip of Ken seeing the wonders of Patriarchy was hilarious with them showing the image of Clinton and Reagan. Like first off does your Barbie audience even recognize Ronald Reagan? Most of the audience were babies when Clinton was president.

Obviously they didn't show Drumpf because that would have led to a monumental diversion beyond the current gender politics sperging. And they weren't going to show Obama/Biden because liberal Hollywood won't use Democratic Presidents in a negative light. So frankly why even show US Presidents?

A fucking Bechdel Test? OK, now you have to be trolling.

I mean this is a "test" that movies that are far more blatantly anti-women can pass, so it's a pretty shitty measure.
Yes it's such a feminist test that lesbian pornography that men jack off to passes it.

Are we seriously repeating 2013/14 feminist discourse in fucking 2023?? What's next? A gaymergate reference?
