The personal chef of former president Barack Obama was found dead in a "paddleboarding accident" near the family's $12 million mansion on Martha’s Vineyard (which is situated at sea level, a paradox for fervent believers in the melting iceberg theory).

The search was launched on Sunday night for "a male paddleboarder who had gone into the water, appeared to briefly struggle to stay on the surface, and then submerged and did not resurface," according to a police report.

"Another paddleboarder was on the pond with him at the time and observed him go under the water," it added; it wasn't clear why the other paddleboarder did not intervene and rescue Obama's cook.

On Monday, his body was found "approximately 100 feet (30 meters) from shore at a depth of about eight feet".

It remains unclear how a healthy 45-year old male, who is reportedly a good swimmer, can drown in what is literally an 8 feet deep pond.

I think his leg probably sunk into the mud and the suction kept it there. The other guy probably didn't respond because who expects a person to drown in a shallow pond. Pretty messed up, but it seems like nothing notable, news-wise.

This was me two weeks ago.

And then the catastrophic thing happened. Nothing flashy or exciting enough to draw media attention. Now a few dozen people are laid off, and production is dropping to zero. Even as the Government is screaming at us for more material and parts we're sitting on our asses with nothing to do. Sure, this time the machines can be repaired in a few weeks. But what about the next time? Or the time after? It's been an awful change these past few weeks, but I've become resigned to the fact that we are going to kill people and we are going to suffer an irreparable failure and lose our work. I'm no longer angry about this, I've made it to acceptance. I can only pray that I'm not on shift when it happens.

Sure, the government is going to turn a blind eye to anything because they need us, but we workers certainly aren't going to put up with it. The company can only go "oopsies" so many times when we have to evacuate because the plant got brapped by chlorine gas, or a furnace explodes and splatters some poor fucker across the decks before people just stop showing up. No amount of propaganda by the Company and Government about how "without you, the Russians would be in Poland" (almost exact quote by the plant boss) or "keeping our country safe" by providing war material for the MIC justifies dying from CO poisoning or rotting from metals poisoning.

There's no reason this couldn't be fixed either, except that the plant boss, foremen, and CEO don't want to sacrifice their bonuses or risk telling the shareholders they're making slightly less this year. Rather than spend about 5 grand to repair a faulty crane, the Company would just prefer to let it rot and force us to "figure it out." (AKA use the broken crane!) But the plant boss got more than twice my yearly wage in bonuses last year, and the Company is bragging about having a record profit last year. Yet they "can't afford" to make even basic repairs or engage in preventative maintenance.

What still bothers me though is knowing that this is how this is, more likely than not, how all of America is operating at this moment. Nobody gives a shit anymore because the situation for most of us is irreparable. Despite everything we do right, despite likely being capable of fixing the situation, we're being denied the ability to do so by the elite who would rather burn down everything than give the "peasants" another cent. We're trapped in the belly of this machine, and it's bleeding to death because it slit its own wrists to spite us.

In that case, I would recommend you and some of your coworkers go to your boss and say that you will try to make sure he is criminally liable if someone is injured or killed, and record any emails of his refusing to get new equipment as evidence. Point out that in the long-run, it's cheaper to fix a smaller problem now than cleaning up a massive one later.

I realize this may well be an optimistic view...

It's the opposite. The "general population" of Chicago has been fleeing Chicago because of these illegals. I don't know how many have fleed to Quincy (now becoming nicknamed: "Mini-Chicago") and other such places, and PL I have talked to some former Chicago residents and they told me Mexicans made them scared lol that was a few years ago back around 2015-16 I can only imagine how bad it is now.

It's certainly an optimistic view. The Union has repeatedly tried to bring up concerns to the plant boss and bring about changes. The trouble isn't really that we aren't trying to get things fixed, but that there's little incentive for the Company to actually listen. An accident last year came within an inch of killing a few dozen men, and permanently disabled several of my coworkers. Thankfully no one died then by some miracle, but it was bad enough that OSHA rolled into town and did a huge inquiry.

The fine for what was found to be criminal negligence by the company, with the refusal to implement safety actions or properly repair equipment being fucking noted by OSHA as being the root cause of the goddamn problem, was literally a single hour's worth of profit for the company. Sure, the machines being down and the employees being out, and the Company being obligated to pay for their medical bills was also expensive, but in reality the Company doesn't think long-term enough anymore for that to matter. Preventative maintenance is an expense that goes on next quarter's report, and the shareholders will be quite miffed if they get cheated out of a few cents because "oh the machines needed spare parts." Meanwhile all the losses from the big accident that follows can be written off as "unexpected trouble" and taken from the foremen's bonuses, or the saved income when the company temporarily lays off all the affected workers for the time it takes to repair the machines.

Actual production doesn't affect profits because what matters now is the bullshit that is the stock market. OSHA won't help us because the government won't actually disrupt the MIC because it's the MIC who the government serves, and we're a vital piece of the MIC. The situation's just absolutely fucked, and no amount of "hey, this is illegal" is actually going to help.

The problem with corporations getting this big is that massive fines simply become another cost of doing business. This quarterly focus is skullfucking society and nobody in power stands to gain by fixing it.

Membership on the commission is an unpaid position that is often filled by campaign donors, family members, and political allies — the same crowd that often winds up with US ambassadorial appointments. But they do not address the possibility that Hunter Biden might have voiced his support for her appointment.
