I could go on

Are they also not aware how much of a money sink the Chinese High Speed Rails are, given the low ridership of them?
If they do, they don't care. The only concern bughive people care about is the “proof” that Transcontinental HSR is possible because China has a rail system. Doesn't matter if that network is basically nothing but wasteland outside the metros, those yankee farmers can eat shit when the railways need their land to connect NYC to LA.

Not only that, but the Chinese focused so much on High Speed Rail infrastructure that they neglected their conventional passenger and freight rail network.
Which is going to fuck them hard in the event of a land war, having shitty freight rail to move shit around. Sure you can get the troops around fast; not the tanks. That's another thing Urbanists don't consider; you want good roads and trains if you get your ass invaded. If you don't, kiss the bug hives good bye

Did fuckcars give up on making their parking lot in r/place this year? I haven't seen any obnoxious parking lots, however I did find this:

An affordable 90s hot hatch is the true winner of any car related argument. Efficient, practical, fun, low emissions, cheap to buy, run and maintain. Won't feel like shit if you get in a fender bender either. Bikecucks never stood a chance.

Tbh cars are kind of a giant money pit not everyone can afford, and it would be nice if having one wasn't a necessity in most of the US.
It's not hard to live car-free in many places.
Plus people who are irrationally afraid of public transit are also pretty cow-ish.
I haven't seen any such people, care to provide examples?

In red states especially it's hard AF, even in big metro areas. Most FB and nextdoor boomers here are irrationally afraid of public transit despite my metro area having some of the worst traffic problems in the nation. I have a bunch of screencaps from Nextdoor boomers being terrible about it on my laptop I could look through when I have the chance.

Move to a US urban area. The problem is the geometry of America. It's easier to rearrange people than spend millions on empty trains in Montana.

And I say this as a public transit loving urbanite who has taken amtrak cross country before. (four days sitting upright in coach, sat next to a juggalo for like four states)

Also public transit is full of violent shitheads too poor to afford cars. I can deal with it because I'm a young man and they generally expect us to possibly get knifed at some point. But it's not a broadly applicable solution.

Wait "my metro area"? I thought from your schizo rants that you lived in a small redneck town in the southeastern US, all of which inherently have no traffic due to their small sizes.

If you're in Atlanta (which is the only city I can think of that matches your description as it's the only southeastern city in the top 10 for worst traffic), blame your congestion on the idiots who invested in MARTA instead of building more highways. It's a money pit that has failed to live up to its promises.

The reason why the "boomers" (aka everyone of all races and ages who can afford at least a beater) there don't like transit is revealed by the alternative definition of MARTA: "Moving Africans Rapidly Through Atlanta". They're not irrationally afraid of the increased crime that transit brings, they're rationally afraid.

You might be conflating boomers voicing their concerns for their safety with "irrational fear." In that case, worrying for one's safety is a completely rational reason to want to avoid public transport, especially if said boomers are on the more senior side. Show the screenshots so we can all see what you're talking about.

What crime? No one is going to rob your McMansion on the bus, you ever tried getting groceries on the bus? Even that is obnoxious as hell.

The problem with MARTA is it needs to expand badly but most metro counties refuse to bring in MARTA. We have plenty of highways and we can only widen them so much. Highways are also useless for people who can't afford cars or can't drive (like many disabled people).

Plus sometimes fun shit happens like the 85 bridge collapsing because the DOT thought it was a brilliant place to store flammable materials.

I think the real issue is boomers and /pol/zoomers don't like the idea of us yucky poor people potentially getting within 20 miles of them. It'll be fun when boomers start loosing the ability to drive with age and are stuck in car-dependant subdivisions with no ability to get around.

"Don't believe your lying eyes! Theres no theft, mugging, or assault on public transit! Certainly not by fine upstanding melinated brain surgeons and astronauts!"

Thanks for confirming that you live in the Atlanta area. Now I know not to take any of your anti-Republican rants in A&N seriously since you live in a Democrat-controlled area.

And there are totally no hit and runs or robberies committed with cars.

Seriously, if you're a thief and want to make a quick get-away, public transit isn't what you want lmao (might be waiting over an hour for the bus. Assuming it didnt break down or stop running for the day).

If only. Only Atlanta itself is blue.

I seriously wonder what all the boomers in car-dependant subdivisions will do when they loose the ability to drive. I think a lot will just stubbornly keep driving until they get into a serious accident or kill someone.
