Isn't this exactly what killed the NoseCord? It just became a group of power-users who bullied most new people out of interacting, making Nick want to be more hands off, and leading to the implosion that forced Nick to all but disavow the server?
The losses probably came in waves. It is hard to quantify who only subbed to Locals in the beginning to support the post-YT ban transition elsewhere. There were no promises of 24/7 chats or other weird parasocial shit that I remember. Most of the activity was during liveshows (especially trials). The non livestreamers are probably the real outliers.
When trials ended and as the Kingdom of Coom was slowly being built one copestream at a time, people slowly dipped out or requested refunds (which were apparently received) as they saw the shift in content away from earlier expectations. I think to his credit, the first wave of losses were largely due to his own disappointing endeavors and hubris. Especially when he started telling those subs he wasn't going back to the old content, thus rebranding, and to basically fuck off for pestering him about it. Repeatedly!
Chat formed a jealous harem near the same time when activity peaked as non-livestream chat slowly accoomulated a significant female following. Chat was packed during streams as many were just there for the memes & liveshow banter, to support the show, etc.
The "regulars" were not so keen with their perfect Little Paradise of Social Neurotics being tainted with dirty memesters, even during livestreams. They crowed at the prospect of outsiders or that "one of those" people from the Discord would show up more regularly, etc. They were the chosen ones to populate and help usher in the newly minted Kingdom of Coom.
It's so humorous to me because Locals is a basic as it gets HTML chatwall. It requires the most patient of users, those whose connection to technology can never be severed by broken features, to hang about for any length of time. All in an effort to try to secure a permanent place in the fledgling Kingdom of Cringe. This likely stunk up the site as the original intrigue waned and no doubt their constant presence and Griftsplaining only led to more waves/losses.
There's not much Nick can do about it now since he made the decision to hand the keys to his redeveloping brand and business model to complete randos. Reading
@Himedall All-seeing Waifu's logs, it's obvious many fully comprehend the power they hold, as they all purport to behave like hall monitors...
A year ago, Nick was constantly humblebragging about having developed and running a multimillion dollar social media enterprise.
The multimillion dollar enterprise is supposed to BE the thing that occupies most of the CEO's time and keeps him busy with the "crazy" scheduling.
It's not supposed to be a side hustle that plays second fiddle to the social calendar of your crotch goblins.
It's like he doesn't have a wife or something.
The shift to complaining about vehicular drama is levels above prior cope which could suggest his business is struggling far more than we realize. The fact he is lowering expectations is a potential tell.
He may never have been heading that way in terms of being multi-mil, thus overselling his eFame fortune leading up to the 5k Grift. His reputation took some kind of major hit in the background apparently, as he is using every available excuse now to hide the overall lower quality of content.
Did even his old content scream multi-million enterprise? What say you, humble Lawtube orbiter? And if truthful, how many of those millions were contingent on his running a Youtube sweatshop of would be internet lawyers? I am sure they just loved dressing up to sit in front of a camera rather gratuitously for free to help line someone elses pockets day in day out. Even pseudo lawyers are a cost aware folk.
Thus, I don't think it is a coincidence his panel offerings have shifted significantly away from previous staples. Who wants to orbit an imploding star? A crazed drunkard who behaves like an egomaniac? Who, I wonder?
