something that should've taken a day to make and render out a final product, took me a week. while having its own after effects built in (and its node based compositing is absolutely delightful and refreshing to work with) you'd be better off sticking with premire or vegas.

Resolve is a professional (aka theatrical release and broadcast TV tier) video editing tool. The fact that it's released for free is exceptional. However it is overkill for 99.)% of YouTube content and Links is probably using it because he heard it was THE BEST and he soyfaced.

Yep, again, he heard it's "THE BEST" and has to have it, no matter what. Gearqueers exist everywhere, Diving, guitars, PCs, guns, cars, cameras, lighters, pens, shoes/boots, biking, running, etc.

Linus is just the type to think that more money = MORE BETTER without even reading a user manual or watching a tutorial.

I think BMD's strategy in releasing Resolve for free is to use it to infect workstations all over the place to drive hardware sales. Capture cards and shit.

Back when they first did this over 10 years ago, there was some minor panic in the colorist world (internationally) that their formerly exclusive tools (and social circles + clientele) are becoming accessible and feared for their hourly rates. AFAIK, no other color tools have followed this.

Glad you brought up guns, because that's a very familiar world to me. Say you want a CCW pistol. What are the REAL requirements? Reliability, and it's small enough to conceal. You could go for that fancy race gun well over 1000 bucks OR that old used revolver in the LGS store's cabinet that's sat there a year because it's a bit tarnished looking. Remember, the average self defense shooting is around 5 rounds fired at close range.

That's why IRL, I took the revolver, 38 special has a solid record with good ammo, AND I got data on my side. For all of Linus talking about science and technical jargon, he's horrible when it comes to choosing time tested equipment over the next shiny new thing. Gear queer to the max

The only people who'd unironically watch LTT are zoomers and Gen Alphas.
