I came back from the con, I have a lot to say about the voice actors and some other stuff too! I'll make a whole thread tonight or tomorrow. The short of it is that Rob Paulsen is a bit more sus than Maurice Lamarche is. It's still a bit better than a nothing burger not by much. Still kinda at square one here, sadly.

If you can explain yourself, that'd be great because I'm having a hard time entertaining the thought Rob is complacent in grooming shit or the like. I know there's tons of crazy stories involving voice-actors in the cartoon scene where they've said stuff that can get HR to call the cops on you for, and perhaps he's said some gross stuff off-mic, but he's still a professional through-and-through. I doubt he's been involved with cos-thots, for instance, think something would've come out ages ago when #MeToo was at its peak.

I'm aware this ain't the comic sperging thread but you definitely see hints of him also having a hate boner for religion in watchmen but it reached the apex in v for vendetta. With the whole "it was still cyanide," bit it being a host V force feeds a pedo priest. You see that years later with Ellis and his whole, "your God doesn't love you, you make him want to puke." Bit in castlevania. But to stay on topic not everything by these guys is all preachy atheim spergatry. Take the justice league adaption of for the man who has everything.

Ennis and Millar hate religion and love edgelordery because they grew up in tradcath households and every tradcath household will have a teenager who hates the catholic church and thinks theyre all pedophiles. Thats usually the first step most brit writers took towards becoming communists, becoming disillusioned with religion because of the sins of the prophets. Millar especially has come back around to becoming anti commie in recent years, even voted for brexit, good for him while Ennis just did a good Rogue Trooper run for 2000AD and mostly just wants to spend his life writing war stories. Millars edgelordery comes out of shock value while Ennis's edgelordery comes out of spite cause he hates capeshit, he grew up reading war comics and really wants to tear down capeshit as a concept by humiliating them and doing edgelord nonsense with them. Which is why The Boys utterly humiliates all the heroes in it. Its a bit similar to the religious humiliation phase most british commies went through where they rewrote stories from the old testament to humiliate the characters and religion involved, compiled in one book called "Outrageous tales from the old Testament". TBH I prefer Robert Crumbs Book of Genesis comic from 2009 cause even if he didnt like religion, he didnt want to humiliate it and rather wanted to reinterpret it.
Moore is just a retard, guy literally wants children to learn how to fuck cause fucking is a fun and good hobby. He was never religious, he was never an edgelord, whatever he wrote he took dead seriously which should give you enough reason to consider him a retard. Hes also one of those people who believes in the sexual repression theory, society stops progressing and improving when behavioral rules are imposed on people especially rules on "sexual expression" which makes them sexually frustrated and makes them support fascism. I would rather respect Morrison cause he is self aware about being a degenerate retard while Moore is a degenerate retard who pretends to be a psuedo intellectual and self perceives as one.

In this scene's defense, I actually think that kind of explanation would just flat out be cool in a setting with vampires or an equivalent written to be more bestially slaved to their instincts, especially if there were a bunch of other ways hunters exploited weaknesses in vampire biology to level the playing field. Would make it really feel like monster slaying has tangible refined intergenerational knowledge by having said knowledge be integral for every victory... all of which would be fine as its own work but leaves a bitter taste in my mouth hack fit into Castlevania as a vessel to retcon things that did not need to be retconned ala midichlorians from Star Wars.
Speaking of which, back on topic, I've never watched this series nor do I intend to. Is this just a one-off asspull to avoid giving symbolic power to the cross?
