Nintendo Switch (Currently Plagued) - Here we shit post about the new Nintendo console, The Switch

If you feel like killing half an hour, Cybershell made a great video going over all the changes. The short version is that the Gamecube port was worse across the board (collision bugs, visual effects, new models, enemy behavior not accounting for the new higher framerate, etc) with few improvements, then each subsequent rerelease was a port of the previous rerelease. It led to a mess of things that Adventure became "infamous" for that weren't even in the original version.
I've already seen that video.

It's extremely bizarre there's no Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 remasters. I know everybody thinks that but I can't help but think that every time this conversation comes up.
Hey, at least they actually got ported to the PC....more than what could be said for other SEGA Dreamcast/Gamecube games.

Try playing SA1 without losing lives (or re-starting, or whatever) due to Sonic falling through the floor or randomly flailing off of the race courses. Go on, I dare you. You can't do it.
The only issue that I had with the GameCube game was how slippery everything was while running at full speed.
Heroes looks like shit, and I'd say that's where things really fell off a cliff. It's one of the few Sonic games I don't even want to try.
It's actually pretty mediocre, all things considered. It mainly serves as an excuse to bring back Shadow and Chaotix

I've hated SA1&2 on the GC just like the original DC ports. One of the best things I can say about the two are the soundtrack

One of your assertions was unless you're a speedrunning autist you probably won’t get much out of it, but just the fact that millions of people buy and play Sonic shows that's not true. Maybe you were just exaggerating but it's a pretty obviously untrue statement regardless.
I might’ve been exaggerating a little, yeah. It’s a bad habit of mine, apologies. I think the games are still enjoyable without that speedrunning autism- I just think that it’ll be hard to get into the series without that autism, and it’ll definitely be more frustrating. See again: the aforementioned clarification in regards to enemies. Mania was still well-made enough that even as a dumbfounded newbie with next-to-no experience with “proper” sonic (I played Unleashed on the Wii, Secret Rings, Rush Adventure 2 and like twenty minutes of Advance 1) I was getting a few sections of speed that were genuinely fun, but them being cut short so quickly due to my inexperience frustrated and deterred me more than it intrigued and invited me to play more.

If you think the near-universally beloved Sonic 1 is "the most divisive, out-of-the-ordinary game" in the series you're out on a fucking limb, mate. I'll give you a hint, every single 3D Sonic is either more divisive than Sonic 1 or flat out agreed upon to be bad. Every Sonic game released after 1996, with the exception of Mania, is either more divisive than Sonic 1 or flat out agreed up to be bad.
CD, not 1, retard. That game is either called a masterpiece or the worst thing ever with no in-between lol. I think even shit like Unleashed is less controversial (don’t quote me on that though I’m not too deep into Sonic).

After 5 Months, Mario Kart 8 And Splatoon Are Finally Going Back Online For Wii U

Important Tidbit:
At the end of 2022, an exploit dubbed ENLBufferPwn was discovered in several of Nintendo's online multiplayer games; hackers could send a custom firmware payload to any players in the same lobby / game session, and use it to retrieve sensitive data stored on the system (passwords, payment info, etc). Most of the affected games (such as Nintendo Switch Sports, Splatoon 3, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons) underwent emergency server maintenance and were fixed relatively quickly... but the exploit existed in some Wii U games too, and those games' servers (the non-deluxe Mario Kart 8 and the original Splatoon) have been offline ever since. Well, much to everyone's surprise, those Wii U games will have their servers restored tomorrow (August 3rd). If you still have the hardware and the means to play these games online, then maybe jump on while there's a buzz surrounding this news and while you actually still can; the next time these particular servers get taken down, it'll probably be the last.

Rayman confirmed for Smash.
I have mixed feelings. On one hand, Rayman 2 is one of my favorite games, and seeing Rayman return fills me with joy.

On the other hand, his return is only as DLC for a crossover game that I'm otherwise not too interested in.

Hopefully this signals a proper return for Rayman, with either a new game or a remake of his older ones.

A bit late, but.....

Rumour: Nintendo Is Targeting A 2024 Release For The Switch Successor

Thanks to VGC (and corroborated by Eurogamer), it looks like development kits for Nintendo's next console are now with "key partner studios", with multiple sources claiming that Nintendo is aiming to release the final product in the second half of 2024. This is supposedly to avoid any stock shortages that plagued the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S when they both launched back in 2021.

>another Switch Pro rumor
HOW MANY TIMES DO WE HAVE TO TEACH YOU THIS LESSON, OLD MAN??

I'm being a bit facetious; I think I mentioned earlier in the thread that I do think some kind of upgrade is coming either this year or early next, but I am still very tired of this shit lol. People have been spreading rumors about a new Switch since 2020ish- credible ones and non-credible ones alike- feels like we hear about some new Pro rumor every few months now and i'm beginning to tune out. At this point I'm just going to wait for official confirmation before doing anything else.

Worst-case scenario the Switch is left as-is, but I honestly doubt that will happen entirely since the only Nintendo consoles that don't get revamps eventually tend to be the ones that flopped (N64, Gamecube, Wii U). Pretty much every single other one has had some kind of revisit save for (I think) the NES (arguable since it was already a total revamp of the existing Famicom) EDIT: thanks to Vyse Inglebard for correcting me- the NES did in fact get a revamp. Even the Switch has arguably already had one with the OLED version...
