I was introduced to Superman 64 way before AVGN. Back in 2006-08, there were a lot of angry reviewers that try to emulate the same exact style as him, and people like DarknesstheCurse actually covered the game before Bimmy did. And unfortunately, I cannot find that review.

Also to mention when I made the Hong Kong 97 parody back in 2014, a year before AVGN reviewed it, they were saying things such as I was ahead of my time and things such as before Hong Kong 97 was made famous by AVGN. It already gained notoriety before AVGN reviewed it hence the requests and the stores that supplied the games rejected them after giving a background check (considering Nintendo doesn't license any game critical of their policies), reject unlicensed games and thinks games are still meant for children despite PC 98 hentai games. I first saw the game in an Angry German Kid video back in 2010 and I barely knew what the AVGN was. Same goes with Superman 64, Bubsy 3D and Action 52.

In fact AVGN is pretty fucking outdated at this point now that we have more philosophical and professional historians tracking down the creator of Hong Kong 97 (Ultra Happy Video Game Nerd), Playing the entirety of Bubsy 3D whilst confirming the Gold X award to be real when reviewing the game (Nitro Rad), Autistically breaking down every detail of Super Mario 64 (UncommentatedPatten), Learning Japanese and speaking it fluently to write a satirical letter to Takeshi Kitano (JonTron), Discover a Minecraft bug that ever changes floating point research of this game by accident (Yours Truly) and countless people archiving the Beta version of Superman 64 which is the arguably better version. AVGN was very influential, yes. But he hasn't gone much past that.

I found this on the TCT subreddit, apparently, James appeared in a random music video.
The concept is that the music video takes place inside an RPG game played by the Nerd. James Rolfe makes a cameo as the game's villain but also as the Nerd at the end when he gets mad at the game being terrible and destroying it very anticlimactically.

Does James often appear in these random corners of the internet like this? Because this was the most bizarre thing I've been in a while.
As for the music, it's kind of a meh for me, it took me a while to understand what language they were speaking though.

I'll list the channel name somewhere else. But yeah, Angry Reviewing was a fad until people realize they didn't need to be angry to review games. And channels like Angry Joe review both good and bad games.

I absolutely noticed that. Jon Tron, ProJared and Caddicarus are known for that. Probably a response to those inferior reviewing channels of the 2000s such as Spax3 and Gamedude8899 (An even shittier version of Irate Gamer).

I'd say reviewers like ProJared, SomeCallMeJohnny and Caddicarus used to be good until later in the decade. And my god, I'll never forget the moment SomeCallMeJohnny went politically woke years ago, which was why I stopped watching his goyslop by that point. As for JonTron, he's moved on from game reviewing (and even as 2017, reviewing in general) and focuses on riffing videos, and his quality still shines.

Yeah. Jon Tron still retains the quality of riffing after his departure of video games which is why he still remains relevant. I don't know if I had experience watching SomeCallMeJohnny but I remember I completely stopped watching Jim Sterling when he went way too political. Jon Tron was like the person standing in the sanctuary laughing at the absurdity of the world while Jim Sterling constantly bitches about things irrelevant to the topic more than half the video. As for James, fortunately he remained mostly apolitical but unfortunately it wasn't enough to stop the seasonal rot due to a degenerate crew. One as fat as Steven Assanti.

Yeah but AVGN's video is just 24 minutes, a fraction of the time it takes to watch that old Goon LP. I mean it's basically the difference between a review and a full commentary track.

And again it's cool that Rolfe got Seamus Blackley on for the skits and brief interview, the guy is a legend in the gaming industry.

I started watching him waaaay back in the dark ages because he did Sonic stuff. But I grew out of him pretty quickly, and even back then his videos would just fucking disappear. And I know more recently I checked back on it and sometimes he would be gone, and sometimes he would be back with videos i fucking remembered watching 15 years ago.

Gamedude is a whole can of worms. Dude used to delete his videos if it got less than 4 stars and not enough views (for those who don’t remember or are too young, YT used to have a 5 star rating system instead of the like/dislike button) and then reupload them. He was so cringe that it's why I unsubbed from him by 2013. Sure, his videos are a product of the mid-to-late 2000s. I remember that he was a nuance in 2008 or 09 and a few YouTubers had called him out. I remember he became more of a Tomb Raider fanbrat and wanted to show his "le edgy" persona. Even his reviews are just dollar store brand versions of either Armake21 or UrinatingTree, and this is not a compliment either.

I used to occasionally listen to AlphaOmegaSin yell about Resident Evil but then he dropped off the face of the earth for like six years.
