I'm pretty sure when people said Chris never went outside and stayed in the house all the time, Marvin pointed out that Chris is actually more active than we'd think, attending Pokemon Card leagues and auctions.

@Marvin is the man to ask for details if he can give them of course
I don't know if I said anything about auctions. You might be thinking of when I said that Chris is pretty familiar with pawn shops.

Heh, for a period of time, he drove like across the state a few times to buy amiibos because he was banned from everywhere in Charlottesville. Chris was so impressed by the big box stores (and the mall) in some other town across the state. Chris is easily dazzled by shiny commercialism. What he didn't realize, is that the reason he was dazzled was not because those stores are something novel, but because he's simply not banned from them in that other town. (Yet!) This was later confirmed when someone posted on here about seeing Chris in some weird corner of the state that wouldn't make sense for Chris' daily activities.

I think Chris later found a local source for his amiibo fix and stopped doing that.

I wonder if he is a little more relaxed shopping outside of town. I get the sense that he is always a little on edge when out in Charlottesville. He seems to view bans and conflicts with security and management as an unpleasant random occurence which just happen to him from time to time. And Charlottesville is a small enough town, so being banned from a store really has an effect on his shopping options. In other towns he has fewer unpleasant memories of conflicts, and bans don't affect him nearly as much. He also seems to think that the Charlottesville retail industry has it out for him, so shopping elsewhere might make him think that he is free of their clutches.

Other than that, the whole thing is pretty dumb. The whole point of commercialism is that malls are fairly similar and different outlets of a single chain are virtually identical. The idea of travelling to go to a chain store is comical. Reminds me of Michael Scott at Sbarro.

So...there was a point where Chris would drive upwards of three hours (a rough estimate, considering the size of Virginia) to buy Amiibos...those things you can get practically anywhere. Just because he got himself banned from the local places...wow

The money spent on gas alone would have made it more economical for him to just bought the Amiibos online.

Sorry, I did get that idea from you saying about him going to various pawn shops. *sigh*

It's hilarious that seeing all these more commercial and less rural shops had a lasting effect on Chris, as well as the fact that he travelled so far to get his amibos. Don't forget he also said in one of his videos at the end of the year on GameStop, that he travelled to a GameStop at a far away military base to buy amibos as well, just to further confirm that for anyone else who finds it hard to believe a grown man would drive to places hours away to buy toys.

I was thinking, how does Chris reconcile that he can't even live up to the misogynistic ideals he projects onto women? I mean, you don't see many feminine flower lipstick lesbians driving across the state to buy toys and video games that are marketed toward young boys.

It's that he goes far away to chain stores with online presences. It illustrates his hypercommercialized view of the world. Someone who is legitimately a collector will travel around, go to pawn shops, second hand stores, and other local places, trying to find interesting or rare things for decent prices. Chris travels around to large stores to buy readily available stuff.

Does he even still need a source, since his Etsy is shut down?
Don't think so. But maybe he was collecting for himself for awhile as well.

Yeah, I'm sure that all factors into it as well.

I wouldn't put it past the citizens of Charlottesville who've already had enough of Chris' antics to do that.

Some people have mindless interests. Of course if said store wasn't avaialbe in your area, of course you'd be going out of town for it if you wanted (though I'm sure buying online has taken the car time out of that).

Knowing Chris, I'm sure he hates to live out there in hicksville when he would've been better off in a mid-sized city like Richmond.

Is he really going to buy that ugly thing just because it sorta resembles a character from a horse cartoon?

I mean I wouldn't put it past him, but I was being optimistic he was just making an observation about it. (An observation NO ONE cares about, but hell, Chris is hardly the first person to make worthless observations on Facebook)

Besides, if he wants this Discord character, there has to be official merchandise of him, right?

EDIT: I just checked a site I go to for collecting, and yes, there indeed is

It's only $30, so that's GOTTA be cheaper than that big ass lawn ornament, right? I mean, unless of course that dragon has been sitting there for years and the owners are desperate to get rid of it

Even if he didn't want to spend thirty bucks he can still get one. FUNKO sells a vinyl figure of Discord that's only about thirteen bucks.

I'm learning so much. :surprised:

Hmm. Was this before or after his statewide ban?
