This also opens more questions to the lore such as if the Sins are related to Stolas but not "blood related", what the fuck does that mean? Were they all part of Lucifer's inner circle when he rebelled against God, which is why they're powerful demons? Are they powerful enough to keep Overlord demons like Alastor at bay and if not, why haven't the Overlords taken over the Pride Ring since that is where both shows are mainly set?
yeah, the Goetias are ranked higher than the Overlords, but Valentino is described as one of the most powerful demons in hell and Carmilla controls the angel weapons market, the weapons capable of weakening and killing the noble demons, but they are also below Alastor's power level. Overlords have more defined jobs because they are based in industries, but Goetias just have nobility™ more as an aesthetic than a function, they are generic rich people/celebrities rather than politicians and landlords.
the only reason for this is that sinners are limited to only inhabiting the Pride Ring, but Stolas lives in Pride and I.M.P operates there too, but we haven't heard of any Overlords ruling there because what would be the logic of a Prince not ruling his territory, but we also don't know anything about what Stolas does for a living—he shows up at events, maybe predicts the future, and maybe does business in the human world.
the rest of the family should rule other lands in Hell, with 72 members ( even more if we include spouses and children of each) and only 7 countries-size Rings and with how powerful they should be it makes no sense for the position of Overlord to be important as they are in Hell, but that must be because Vivzie created them first and only included the Goetias around Stolas (including the fact that they are all birds, minus a few Sins). Maybe the Deadly Sins are appointed to their positions because of nepotism, which would explain them just fucking around, but the rest of the Goetia is the same, just parties and backstabs.
at this point any faction is as powerful, influential and efficient as it needs to be for the plot, which would be ok if the story wasn't in the service of a half-baked melodramatic romance, and I still don't understand how a mafia and a prison exist in this hell .
