Critical Drinker kept a stable line today. Rekieta had a smattering of people with an OK number coming by his table, but occasionally he had nobody. Our Wife was present in Tomb Raider gear. Of course Camelot was still there. There was a smallish line for Rekieta's table at one point, but for the most part it was him and his wall of tables hanging out on the mat and it looked more like a multi-Creator social event with randos walking up to chat. It never got orderly. In fact, often they were all on the mat itself rather than behind the tables. It was incredibly casual.

Kurt legitimately looked like he was having a good time. I saw him sat at the ends of the table, on the table at one point, and loitering about, which I found amusing because he was all over the place. He was quite the creature of contentment today and in his zone.

Edit: Clarity, damn it

Wake me if and when there's a line wraping around the block for Nick and/or Coomalot.
I skimmed the videos posted by members of the YouTube corner that were actually posting content - Mayr and Critical Drinker - and it sure looks like that wasn't in danger of happening.

Basically the photo above says it all - Critical Drinker seems to have had a sizeable line that stopped the corner from being a bust this year.

I think that there will have to be a serious re-evaluation on AM's end about whether or how to continue with the Youtuber contingent moving forward. I think they know that, too, because based on @Chibitzen's post a few days ago there appears to be have been a late decision to rebrand the YouTuber panel from "Nick Rekieta and the Youtubers Panel" to "Friday Night Tights", even though at the start of Gator's video of the event it's introduced as the Youtuber panel anyway.

I guess you can quibble whether the relative lack of interest this year was due to the general descent into lolcowdom that's impacted Nick's channel or due to factors more specific to his weeb audience (the failure of the Vic appeal + the VTuber feud) but either way, it doesn't seem like Nick can be the focal point around which AM can gather a group of guests anymore.

Got to hand it to Chrissie for actually doing PR for the event. Nick doesn't even mention it on his twitter. Funny that Vic didn't come on Nick's channel to promote matsuri but went on a e-thot channel. Guess he knows that Nick has burned all the bridges with the anime people.
I am pretty sure Nick was more active on social media last year when he was crying about being suspended from YouTube during the convention than this year, when he has no excuse not to be on social media. He hasn't even tweeted out anything about the convention. Maybe he's active on Locals?

Yes, I noticed that in the video Critical Drinker posted it looks like Kurt and Nick were standing out in front of the tables.

Eh when it comes to promoting on social media, I still think twitter is still the best place to go since locals is...locals and youtube...you'd only be promoting to your insular audience. It's like the difference between distributing pamphlets (twitter) and catching people on the road to watch your seminar (yt). And to my recollection, Nick has never been that active on twitter even before this year. This year though, all he does on twitter is either boast about his rumble or pick fights with people like hydropx.

The people they should be trying to get are those like TheAnimeMan and others who make weeb content. I'm sure there is drama wirh Vic and some would be hard to get, but get a few over 100k subs, have them host some panels (note the plural), and they would do better
I'm sure they could easily find some anime relate people to show up with larger channels, as a lot of them probably don't know and don't care about the Kick Vic thing and several of them attend other cons. Or at least get media related people like Clown Fish that would be willing to shill the shit out of it.

If they didn't fill that space with Youtubers, it would almost certainly go unused. They simply can't get guests that other anime cons can.
I'm sure they could have filled it with something, even if it was just a bunch of crane machines or something. There's always someone who will fill space if they think they can make a few dollars.

they're pulling out Coomalot just to fill space
Actually, I'm somewhat surprised Coomalot even attended after his bullshit with Pippa.
I wouldn't go to a con that endorses a Flaggot like him, and he didn't just have a falling out with Pippa, he got another popular vtuber banned off of Twitter for "death threats" and then multiple vtubers cut ties with him. Nick and Flaggot make it out as people were upset that they broke the kayfabe or whatever, but most people were annoyed by that though didn't care, however it was the flaggoting and bragging about getting people deplatformed that made everyone with a brain cut ties with them.

You just reminded me. I saw him bragging about having another vtuber on after the drama. Can't remember what he said but he was really smug about it, as if he managed to give the middle finger to phaseconnect/vtuber audience. So I went to check if that happened or not...

This vtuber looks budget as fuck but she surprisingly has 240k subscribers on youtube. But that might have something to do with being a literal coomer vtuber.

I did not and probably wont watch this stream but wont be surprised if they talked about the pippa drama and camelot spins it his way.

I'm pretty sure they did, and that bitch is some fat whore who did a panel at some con where her and the other models with her were all nude. So that following is literally people following a porn account and that's the only reason why it's so big.

So people know that she looks like a whale and nothing like her vtuber model but they still following? SMH coomers...

I don't know what people know, I just heard it when Flaggot was interviewing her because people were talking about it. It's actually funny though that all the girls in Phase Connect are thin, but people like Dax call them fat, meanwhile the actually fatty gets those coomers attention.

FWIW, Simpcast/Chrissie drew in a small crowd in addition to CD. Rekieta's adjacent wall was the lowest activity. I suspect having the orbiters around to keep the gravitational field operational helped not only to keep him company, but made it less awkward for their walk ups to join in. It didn't look as poorly as lonely Virgil and so nobody looked miserable as a result.

AM YT Corner Autism: This year the YT area obviously had weaker attendance with a weird lineup. Even at peak, walking by felt more underwhelming. It had a massive and prominent walk-in space, so that was not the issue.

MeatCanyon had a longer wrap around line today that was about double what it was yesterday. I'm told he is a Youtuber, but his booth is in a completely different area setup by other more prominent (read: relevant) guests such as voice actors. The booths there are actually lined up directly next to one another, so none of this weird corner nonsense. So walk ups/lines were also parallel to each other which made it easier to queue, so it wasn't like the Youtube corner where CriticalDrinker's line is cutting off the walking space in half diagonally and cutting most of Rekieta's side/wall off from line of sight. Most people coming towards the YT section are coming from the doors and while there's stalls tucked around the corner where they would be more visible, it's not a lot of traffic. So most will be staring directly at CD's line, which blocks most of their wall from view. Rekieta's table is very badly placed imo being tucked up against CD's corner, so it's very hard to see if anyone is even there and little space to stand in front of his table. Bad call on AM's part.

On the other hand, this made it more difficult to photograph, for both fans and Farmers alike. That may be why they were keen to stay on the mat, as the rest of the convention would be visible, feel more accessible to them and thus easier to greet traffic towards their respective tables.

(Do you recognize me?):

Rekieta stepped away from the table a few times, so it's possible he's not even in the second shot (I don't see him):
am-yt-saturday-2-30pm.jpg

This crowd looks similar to the small line I had saw earlier (when downstairs). As you can see, CD's folk apparently didn't care too much about crowding what little space Rekieta & co had in front of their tables and so it made it harder to determine what crowd Rekieta even had, if he even had a line. When I was downstairs, it appeared he did and he was present, but it was a short line. About the length of what's in this photo (if it were queued for him).

Last year's YT area was more orderly despite being more well trafficked even though there were several Creators with significant queues, they simply didn't have this issue because there was actual space at the corners instead of a table.

Edit: Clarity
Edit2: One more comment was made to the "Friday Night Tights" page on the AM app:

I have always seen these rumours couched as 'Cancel Culture' by supporters. I am interested with how this is different that gay anime man?
The distinction is there's actual evidence of Leigh creeping on female cosplayers, and he actually admitted it before going into full damage control mode and threatening to sue people (which he never did). Which is to say, there exist receipts that show Leigh was doing what he is accused of, and AFAIK there's not a single goddamned one concerning what Vic was accused of.

There's actually a post on the Farms from 2015 summarizing this. Four years before the Vic saga started. Also, @5t3n0g0ph3r gives a bit of a summary in this thread.

I actually had misgivings about Leigh as early as March of 2019 (see, i.e., here and here). At one point I talked to Rekieta and told him that, in my opinion, I thought it might not the smartest idea in the world to pimp Vic to a convention run by a guy who appears to be a legit creeper. Ya know, given the specific allegations Vic was facing, and all. I was more or less told I was worried about nothing. I felt bad about it too because I legit wanted to see Vic be able to interact with fans in a con setting. I just wished there was an alternative that wouldn't visit further stigma on Vic. Sadly, I don't think there is because a lot of other anime cons actively court the anime industry, and Vic is persona non grata within most of the industry now.

Incidentally, the AM stuff is one of the few examples where I found myself actually kinda agreeing with Renfamous. God help me.

Anyways, circling back to the original point: The things Leigh got caught up in years ago have severely limited the options AM has open to them. That's why you're seeing B-tier Youtubers (Critical Drinker excepted) instead of anime voice actors and Japanese industry guests. It's not really what I would consider a "normal" anime convention.

Meatcanyon is a youtuber, but he’s an animator known for making edgy comedy videos with an intentionally grotesque art style, famous for stuff like his toy story “you have cancer Andy
Dude has over 5 million subs, so he’s in a completely different ballpark than rekeita has ever been close to

Kayla must be so bored at this convention. No blacks besides Drexel. Nick really owes her for putting up with this nerd shit. Just think of all the blacks the Rekeita's will be following when they get back from their fourth trip to Hedonism.
There are no niggers in the YouTube corner because as we ask know, blacks mostly do Twitter and tiktok. But if she braves the main floor, there are tons of melanated Anericans in the Dragonball fandom. I'm sure most of them would kill to tell the frumpy bug-eyed over medicated white woman with the bolt-ons about their power levels.

This is the only thing on Nick's mind. He give fuckall about the convention.

I'm an actual ancient boomer but even I know who Meatcanyon is -- due to his animation in which Penguinz0 comes to kill Sneako. But I've also watched some of his 'fat man talks to camera' videos and he's great. Really likeable.

Those other cunts appearing with Rekieta? I've no clue at all who any of those are. Aside from Kurt who I've watched for his law coverage, none of the others mean anything at all to me. I've never watched any videos by any of those losers who appeared on Nick's panel.

I don’t even watch meatcanyon but have heard of him. Other than Nick and Camelot(because of Nick) I have literally no idea who the other youtube nobodies are in that autism corner, or what relevance they have at an anime convention.

If you ask me, the barrier to entry to become a vTuber is abysmally low. Some people will watch anything they can fantasize is an real anime gurl. It's a weird phenomenon.

TBF, Nick was dropping some truth bombs when he was talking about Pippa earlier, but the issue is that he stupidly did so right before he was set to attend an event that is also attended by people who are actually into vTubers. I'd say he shat where he ate, but his audience is very different now anyways.

I have literally no idea who the other youtube nobodies are in that autism corner, or what relevance they have at an anime convention.
The answer is none. None relevance.
