Motherfucker, I daily drive Windows. My script is written in Batch, AKA autistic legacy MS-DOS spaghetti syntax, and it accomplishes the exact same goal as yt-dlg, which is passing command line arguments to the yt-dlp executable.
I find my script better because I can easily add more options and I can downlpad shit through muscle memory. Open script, 1, 1, Ctrl+V, Enter and it's going in less than a second. And by what you're saying, my idea of writing something up to pass CLI arguments to a CLI program seems like a generally better idea than something like yt-dlg, where all the interactions are hardcoded and will stop working when yt-dlp changes something.
yt-dlp works flawlessly, and it's the most up-to-date fork of youtube-dl which was dead for years ever since the DMCA claim on the repo. If someone can't get shit downloaded through it, assuming they're passing something like yt-dlp video_url, then they're either using an outdated version, or there is some fuckery on YT's side, or they need to pass the cookie variable so the download gets authorized that way.
