The "everyone was on their way to kill Euronymous" meme that came out of that interview is one of my favorite parts of that whole entire story. Seeing youtube comments of some random saying they were going to kill him too makes me smile every time.

varg himself claims he was informed that euronymous was planning to kill him, so he figured his best shot was to preemt that by acting first.
the stuff about dead is from another (ex) mayhem guy, when euronymous used the pics of deads corpse for an album cover he was so disgusted that he left the band, and he later said in some interview that if varg hadn't killed euronymous first then he would have done it himself later.

One grievance was that euro was just sitting in his record store eating kebab all day.

He got 21 years, which is the informal life sentence and it is way more than he should have gotten. The incredible media hysteria really fucked him.

Fun Varg prison facts that I might be misremembering:
