𝕏 / Twitter / X, the Social Media Platform Formerly Known as Twitter / "MUSK OWNS TWITTER"

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
If Musk was smart about it, he would merge these two features so that blocking someone would mute them, but also block them from DM'ing you.
That was actually the plan last year, but the twittards screeched about it until it was quietly shelved again. They didn't want to not see the people they blocked; they wanted the people they blocked to not see them. They hated the idea that people they disagreed with would still be able to read their tweets.

Completely counter-intuitive and only leads to an artificial increase of registered accounts.
To be fair, they absolutely want this as a way to show "growth". There's a reason they didn't purge the massive amount of bots on their site until they had a gun to their head.

Elon you fucker, I just want two things:

One, allow all previously banned users back.
And two, the one to really ruin their lovely little echo chamber, remove the ability to block/mute other users.

The ability of these crybabies to create their own perfectly echoing hugbox on Twitter has been a disaster for humanity. If you want to spew your retarded takes onto the Internet, you can man up and deal with the responses. If you don't want to see them, you're going to have to develop the discipline to not click on every notification.
Quoting myself from last October. Do it do it do it! The milk will be extra frothy.

The block option on Twitter is stupid, because all it takes to read tweets from someone who blocked you is to open their account in an incognito tab. And if you want to troll someone, making a sock is trivial.

It accomplishes nothing and I believe any kind of feature that restricts your account from accessing things that are accessible without an account is retarded.
This is an excellent point. All the lefty and right wing grifters on Twitter crying over this is very telling. Too many people on both sides have been content in their hugboxes. It's got fuck all to do with safety like some are claiming because they can block DMs, and any stalkers can view their tweets by just browsing incognito.

Then all the Twittertards who can't take someone else's opinion would not see them, and they wouldn't be contacted by them via DM's, while the other side would still be able to read their Tweets and reply to them. Both sides would be happy that way.
I see the logic here but I think the people who block en mass also like to control the narrative of the responses to their tweets. Blocking those they disagree with means they're only getting agreeable responses to their hot takes, which makes silent viewers more likely to believe the OP has the "correct" opinion that everyone agrees with. Just muting removes that control. They can limit replies to followers and tagged if they care so much, but that's too obvious an echo chamber to the outside viewer.

I feel sorry for Tucker Carlson TBH.
He signs up with twitter, then Musk immediately locks down anonymous views and Tucker's numbers fall off a cliff from 10m-40m to 1-5m.
Nitter is now borked too.
Is Nitter borked for good with the recent changes?
Even without Twitter policy changes, it seems Nitter was already vulnerable. While trying different instances at random to see if one worked, I stumbled upon this one : nitter.pussthecat.org. It now redirects to this message :
nitterpussthecat.png

tl;dr : the Nitter instance was shutdown (through mostly automated processes) for having displayed illegal content (CSAM) hosted by Twitter. Of course Twitter stays online without issue in the meantime.
This made me tick because Josh recently talked about the use of CP to shutdown websites and/or force everyone to go through 3rd parties to scan content. Seems here that there's already a huge double standard in the treatment of Big Tech versus small website, even when the content is literally the same.
Here's the list of IWF members (donators) : https://www.iwf.org.uk/membership/our-members/ (a) . Pretty much all of Big Tech, including Twitter.

Boy do I want these large networks shut down by some enterprising government, so tired of their preferential treatment and celeb status of owners.
Fuck em all up

If the metrics on national figures like Tucker are any indication, it's not working.
Maybe they're duping a few people into signing up, but when they went full retard and broke nitter, I stopped visiting what few profiles I check daily entirely.
TBH, it was good for my health and I'll probably not return.
Again, based on the 90% drop to tucker's views since they locked out anonymous access to twitter, It's clear the majority are reacting as I did.

It’s awful, but I’m not shocked at all. I’ve seen this happen before and even in the days before all the automated bullshit, it worked because nobody wants to actually check for anything, they just swing the banhammer and ask questions later.

It’s not just because it’s CP, either. It’s the legality aspect of it. It’s why so many people try to invoke the DMCA when they want a specific thing taken from the internet, because almost nobody bothers to check whether it’s actually a violation or not.

It’s infuriating that large sites like Twitter never get in trouble for hosting the illegal content in the first place, but such is the nature of big business.

I can confirm that since a couple of days ago my tweets have gotten 0 impressions. The only time one of my tweets increases in impressions count is when I myself view it, meaning not even the people I reply to directly are seeing my tweets. I'm screaming into the void.

Coincidentally this started right after WEF plant implemented her anti-"lawful but awful" policy.

nitter.net appears to work normally:

However, I've tried about a dozen other instances here, and so far all have been non-functional:

Some are shut down for various legal reasons, while others simply don't work. The error on broken ones is posted in this issue, opened on August 15:

Ah, welcome to my experience when I gave Elon's new twitter a chance.
- create fresh account
- posts more wholesome language-wise than an academic debate
- check visibility through incognito mode
- notice 3 different click-throughs and an "offensive content" warning

It was always a lie.
Musk gets all his money from federal contracts and subsidies.
Anyone who thinks he's anything but the next iteration of "Spez, but for twitter" is fooling themselves.
If he cared at all about press freedom the first person reinstated would have been Alex Jones

My bad, nitter.net doesn't work through TOR (possibly Cloudflare related). It does work otherwise.
I suppose nitter.net being the "flagship" instance of the project, it will keep being updated with the necessary fixes. Meanwhile many smaller instances run as hobby projects won't keep up and eventually give up. Add to that the legal problems, both copyright and CSAM...

If you mirror this Logo its becomes a freemason symbol. Musk is full of shit. His mom is big time into the occult and Elon himself wore a Satan's Champion costume to a Halloween party. Oh and I was banned for 2 weeks for replying to thread that was calling for Fauci to be prosecuted, I said he should be executed. Fuck Twitter/X.
