Armored Core

Apparently a vast amount of people are getting filtered by the tutorial boss? Either I'm a god at the game for doing it on my first try, or a lot of people are really bad. Did anyone here struggle on it at all?

Also it runs pretty well on Steam Deck, it defaulted to high settings but you can lower it and get 40fps locked (lower the refresh rate in settings) at 12 watts, 2 and a half hours of battery. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like you can mix mouse and gamepad so you cant become a god at aiming sadly.
It’s tough the first few times but very easy to learn. All you have to do is be aggressive. It’s really not hard.

it took me a few time to realized that getting up close and start whacking it with laser sword helps a lot.

If they just stick to shooting and not taking cover behind buildings then of course they are going to get filtered.

Removing myself from the thread for a bit since you guys are already having fun with it and want to avoid spoilers. Don't want to get it till I finish Tales into Reverie though I expect to join the fun in a week. Great to know that it seems to go very well on PC and that it works nice on Deck, those two little tidbits increase my hype even more.

I got bodied by it the first time it showed up, but I got it on the next try. When I went back and replayed the mission for credits it wasn't a problem at all. Failing to knock out the helo repeatedly probably means people are being way to static and not using movement to dodge/close with it.

I died to it twice. Shameful, I know, but I'm rusty. Honestly, it lowkey warms my heart seeing people get mulched by the tutorial boss, especially the people who acted like the game wouldn't be shit because they play Souls games. Comparatively, the peak difficulty of DS/Elden Ring doesn't hold a candle to the moments when an Armored Core game is trying to truly crush your balls.

Sorry buckaroo, no i-frame dodge abusing here. You either try to move out the way to minimize the damage or eat shit.

I am using keyboard. Tried a 360 controller but got tired of accidental activating assault boost.

I just bought AC6. I will play it later on. I'm still waiting for it download on Steam. It's about 60GB or so. Then I have to update my GPU drivers because I know Nvidia released the update for AC6 the other day before the games release. I played some of them in the past and Gun Griffon Blaze. I don't have an issue with mechs. I will probably try it with KB+M and with a Xbox One controller.

If you die a bunch the game tells you to fly to avoid explosions.

I think these people keep on the terrain and are ignoring the tutorial tips.

With that being said, I thought it was kind of brutal. Restarting from the checkpoint restores all your ammo and estus so that was what saved my ass because I depleted my ammo even before I reach the boss arena lmao.

I was going to use gamepad but I tried KBM once and it works like a fuckin dream. Give it a try if you haven't already it feels intuitive (or at least it does to somebody who plays Monster Hunter with KBM).
Mainly the kind of answer I was hoping for.

I've been playing exclusively kbm, with mouse thumb buttons for the shoulder weapons it works very well. The only complaint I've had thus far is that the default keybind for your core ability is ctrl + r, which is awkward. You can change that the much nicer ctrl + mmb in the options, but I just set up a macro on my mouse to do it with one button.

Ive one shot all the missions and just finished the wall, destroying the Juggernaut. So an hour and a half of playtime or so.

I dunno if I can play this game with my old man hands. The juggernaut I felt my hands seizing up from the amount of shoulder buttons I was pressing. I am really enjoying it, but if it gets more intense from here I may just have to refund and watch a playthrough. :(

It would probably be worth the money to invest in a controller with rear buttons. The steam deck was the first time I used them, and I was surprised how much they relieve hand strain.

Just got it (really like mecha shit with fast gameplay) and got my ass raped by the helicopter. I'm loving it already.

Beat chapter 1 last night and holy shit that boss was tough as fuck, absolutely loving the difficulty but I'm feeling like I might end up with the worst carpal tunnel known to man if I play without taking a break.

I died three times to that helicopter and loved every second of it. I remapped some buttons to help with my noob retardation (this is my first AC game) and did okay on the next two missions, despite getting hung up on buildings and power lines a few times lol. It's great to have a challenging game that isn't bogged down by capeshit cutscenes or some goofy gimmick. Fromsoftware should be directing every AAA studio on how to make their games, because everything they touch is golden.

Not a big AC fan, I've only played 4 and FA on the 360 before this, but man is this game fucking fun. I'm loving my crack-addict chicken walker build so far. I can't really seem to get the tanky builds to work for me, probably just a skill issue on my part since the pre-release guys seemed to favor tanks and tetrapods. I'll have to play around with them more when I get more parts I guess.

The benefit of tetra/tank legs is that you don't have to stop moving to fire larger weapons. Tetrapod legs slow you down a little when firing, but tank treads aren't effected.

Tetra legs are also nice in that they let you hover, which is good for keeping a line of sight or staying above enemies like turrets and gun emplacements that can't aim too far vertically.

I've always been more of a fan of reverse-joint legs, especially when dueling other people. Doesn't matter how big the gun is if your target is moving too fast to hit.

Finished the first mission. Don't understand the point of having a boss so early, especially one that it's easier to just bum rush with your beam katana than actually engage in positioning and tactical fire. Also is the stagger bar related to temperature?
