IF he pays this week and this isn't just another effort at a delay that will come back to fuck him (unlikely as I doubt Quasi's lawyer would have accepted it without some evidence that Pat had the funds and ability to pay) then I'm fairly sure at this point that something Dan said on his show was right - Nikki and her mom (or someone) after seeing the insanity of the Fatifesto and realizing Pat was dragging everyone down with him out of childish stubbornness, decided to simply go around him and get this dealt with.
I think they either had a last minute intervention, or simply instructed the lawyer to deal with it without letting Pat interfere.

After all in Wisconsin, Nikki is supposedly just as on the hook for the debt as Pat, Fatty might be happy to burn his life down over this, but I imagine its starting to get to, if not Nikki, her family, who have seen her marry this Fat Man Baby who has caused her nothing but grief by being retarded and unable to take an L.
If Nikki went to her mom after Fat filed the Fatifesto in despair, I could see her mom contacting a lawyer (hence how the lawyer was supposedly hired the day after Fats filing and just before closing) and instructed to try to get an extention, and failing that, the mom just opened her checkbook.

I'm leaning towards "his new lawyer told him on Thursday morning to do exactly as he was told in court or he would go directly to jail" and therefore no it doesn't really count morally because he only said it under duress stalker. The court was still wrong, the judgement is still invalid and no payment will be made. He was just doing what had to be done to defend himself from further miscarriage of so-called justice. He's the defendant, you can hardly fault him from defending himself by any means necessary when forced to do so.

This also seems like a likely scenario and is the exact type of thinking that Pat has already demonstrated, smugly self righteous and totally retarded and wrong.

Could someone explain to me what exactly happened back when Pats subpeona was quashed?
I'm not sure if quashing meant both Google+Cloudflare told Pat "fuck off, we're not turning over info to a niggeroni consumer" or did a judge decide this was bullshit and put a stop to his attempt to get information. I assume the 32k is Quasi's lawyer fees.

As I understand it, Google and Cloudflare would have happily satisfied those subpoenas once the deadline for objections had passed, but Quasi's lawyer filed an objection in both jurisdictions before that happened.

These objections effectively put the subpoenas on hold, and required Pat to justify in Court why he needed them.

Courts don't like being abused as a doxing service, and California has especially strong privacy protections for defendants.
Once a defendant objects to a California subpoena that would dox them, the plaintiff is required to provide "prima facie evidence" to the Court of the underlying tort, or the subpoena is quashed.
"Prima facie" means "on its face"... So the evidence required at this point doesn't have to convince a jury yet, it just has to be enough that a judge can say "Hm, this very well could be true, and if it was, it very well could be enough to win this lawsuit." (IANAL, this is just my understanding.)
As in, you have to show that you have a real case, and aren't just abusing the legal system for doxing or lawfare.

Pat was doing just that though: He was trying to dox and wage lawfare.
Backed with $100k in SFWA money, he felt like the king of the world and was gung-ho to crush his OnA enemies under his feet.
His filings didn't need to be reasonable or legitimate, because he could just outspend Quasi. No way that some no-name website hobby admin could cough up the legal costs to defend against $100k worth of motion after motion, right?
Quasi would either fold and shut down the OnA forums, or be financially ruined and doxed.

Well, it didn't turn out as Pat planned.

The judges explained to Pat multiple times that he either needed to remove Quasi from the list of defendants, or cough up prima facie evidence that Quasi had personally engaged in the alleged torts (defamation/harassment/etc.)
And multiple times, Pat petulantly had his lawyers refile his motions without doing that.
So both judges granted the quash to Quasi.

As it turned out, Quasi could afford the ~$35k in lawyer's fees needed to make that happen.
And the SFWA reacted by skiddishly pulling out, hiding the whole affair from their dues-paying members, and leaving Pat on his own to deal with the fallout.

Pat was sanctioned (in both courts) to pay Quasi's full attorney's fees - not just those initial $35k, but also all follow-up fees incurred in the collection process, plus 10% annual interest.

It would not be a surprise if Nikki needed therapy to deal with being married to Pat. I also would not be surprised if Pat was very controlling/abusive towards his wife (wouldn't be the first time). Goes well with the narcissistic personality.
