Armored Core

If you absolutely don't want to be slowed down with cannon type weapons then replace it with laser shotguns. I run 2 Zimmerman kinetic and 2 Wuerger laser shotguns on back, use TALBOT FCS for good close and mid range targetting. Break ACS with Zimmerman then follow up with a kick then laser shotguns, absolute crackhead braindead setup.
I really need to use the kick more, that and the core abilities are things that I sometimes forget I can do. I've heard people talking up the laser shotguns quite a bit recently, I might have to try them out as well. I like having an actual shoulder weapon because I kind of get stuck alternating between each shotgun in sequence when to keep consistent pressure on whatever I'm fighting, but I could see the appeal to dropping both hits, then switching for another double.

I'm glad people are enjoying it but I just didn't like this game at all.

I went with a very open mind, knowing very well it would be very different from Souls games, But everything I like in Souls doesn't exist in this game. Really disappointed overall.

The game didn't hook me to being with, so I was playing it only in small bursts of time because I got bored. I reached chapter 2 only yesterday. First of all, I want to talk about the difficulty, It didn't bother me, never had to repeat a mission more than 4 or 5 times, and that's what made me dislike this game even more. It doesn't require skill, it's a button masher.

I did exactly the same thing in every battle on every mission, I pressed the two triggers and two bumper like a lunatic no stop. I was successful every time, including in all the arena battles. No strategy required, no skill, no learning curve, never paid attention to anything that was happening on screen, never bothered to learn enemies' patterns and moveset. I just pressed all the attack buttons like a child on a fighting game and tanked my way through the game.

It's shit. Now imagine you doing this on a Souls game, you'll get your shit wrecked. Even on an easy early game area, you can't survive without learning how to play the game. And that's what pissed me off the most about Armored Core VI. I was playing this game for hours and I still don't know how to properly play this, and I don't think it is even a thing, honestly.

You can't evade any shit, your shots will miss the target 90% of the time, it's an RNG nightmare. On top of that, the missions are short and boring. No exploration or interesting setpieces, the art design is utterly shit, the story is incomprehensive nonsense. I don't give a shit about anything that's happening.

Well yeah, it's not a dark souls game. If anything, the common complaint I've seen is the soulslike elements they added to the game (stagger/poise breaking, repair kits, restarting from checkpoints, etc) get in the way of being an armored core game. I'm not overly familiar with either series (having only played AC4 and Elden Ring respectively), so I don't really have a dog in that fight. That being said, the short and to the point missions are very much in line with what I remember from AC4. You are a mercenary piloting one of the deadliest war machines around, so your MO is going to be going in, fucking something up, then leaving. It's not really about exploring and taking in the atmosphere of the place you're annihilating with overwhelming firepower.

I've also got to say that if it was impossible to evade attacks or consistently land hits, the fast glass-cannon builds I favor wouldn't exactly be viable.

I find the story pretty interesting actually, although I'm only at the end of chapter 3. It's certainly more interesting than the random scribbles that is Souls stories.

On NG+ I beat Balteus in my second try using a reverse joint build and felt like a god (first try failed because I fucked up and ran out of boost at the wrong moment). I used a shotgun on the right hand, JVLN Alpha bazooka on the left, missile launcher on the right shoulder and the pile bunker as a swapin on the left shoulder.

Also, a funny meme build: dual shotguns, dual flamethrowers. Flamethrowers are utterly useless... Until you break someone's poise, then they melt through health incredibly quick.

Going slower than other kiwis, just did the Ice Worm boss. I enjoyed the gimmick fight a lot more than the annoyingly difficult other bosses. When Fromsoft does gimmick fights instead of just difficult its pretty enjoyable, reminds me of Zelda bosses that aren't piss easy, wish they did more (unpopular opinion probably).

It doesn't matter.

Besides bosses, nothing can kill you in this game, You will get hit left and right but it's only chip damage. Zero challenge.

This game is a boss rush but with a lot of useless padding in between.

pull up eleven labs, load up all of big smoke's dialog files into it so you can mimic Clifton Powell's voice.
Then you replace all of Handler Walter audio files with the ones you generate for big smoke
Whose voice would you use for Ayre?

I just beat the ice worm. I've had zero motivation to depart from tank minigun songbird build; it just chews through everything.

Okay I went in having no problem with difficult bosses or the game being hard or whatever, but the bosses + the stagger system doing nothing to enemies but stunlocking you is really pissing me off now. I am literally dreading doing missions since I know there is going to be a stupid boss fight at the end. Ibis is some Malenia JRPG Touhou bullshit + double health bar on top. I really want to like the game, the game is really fun when its not boss fights, the AC battles are really good, but the stupid boss fights at the end of every mission are just too much and I don't want to spend hours grinding them out. I am literally just going to use cheat engine for the boss fights if it just keeps doing this, and I will feel no shame.

I beat Elden Ring every Dark Souls game, this is just beyond that since at least you get i-frames and can just grind levels or use coop. Maybe its a skill issue (most likely), but I just want to play the game and have fun.

Also its still crashing like crazy in the hangar and I cant figure it out. When it crashes my whole PC freezes until the game closes, mouse too.

Luckily mine started behaving again after a reinstall, time will tell if that holds. It sucks that the hangar crashes freeze your PC, when I was having problems it was just shutting down the game during loading.

Now there is a another stupid defend the thing mission, these are as bad as escort missions. I don't even want to do it but its mandatory and I think I'm near the end. The actual gameplay is really fun but I'm getting sick of all this garbage.

I am now seeing unsubstantiated reports from redditors that the game makes itself significantly harder when you are playing with anti cheat disabled, this sounds like bull but who knows. I guess fuck me for not wanting Epic Games bullshit being run (EOS).
