In short: Why adhere to a fucking calender of all things, like you have to schedule interpersonal gestures of appreciation, as if you need a set date to force yourself to celebrate. Let me just check my schedule and see when my next merriment is due - Ah, I see the 15th is (in)convenient.

I personally don't care about my birthday a whole lot. But I would be miffed if someone close to me completely forgot the date and didn't at least tell me happy birthday. I'm not super picky about gifts, but I would be a bit miffed if someone got me a gift card to Starbucks for Christmas (anyone who knows me knows I make my own coffee at home and am particular about it). Forgetting big dates like birthdays and anniversaries (barring some sort of major stressor that could make you forget) and giving poor gifts is a sign that you aren't paying attention to your partner and what they like. If birthdays and anniversaries are important to your partner and they want you to make a big deal out of it, you do. Relationships of any sort are a two way street.

I swear that in one of the MATI streams he said that rule has an exception and that is you're allowed only one. Any more leads to drama if I remember correctly.
