Bridget is an old meme (like early 2000's old) that also happens to be adored by a fuck-ton of people (see: "Everyone is gay for Bridget"). Regarding the lore:

Bridget is a well educated boy of a wealthy family, secretively brought up as a girl since it was a belief in his village that male twins would bring bad fortune.

And that's all it is. The issue is that once the devs decided to go "yea he's trans, deal with it!", it was yet another slap in the face to gamers that enjoyed the character for what he was and yet another sacred thing stolen from them to be given to the woke mob like everything else these days.

So it makes Doobus look more like an ass because not only does he not get why people are pissed but he quite frankly doesn't care going by his attitude in the tweets.
