Nintendo Switch (Currently Plagued) - Here we shit post about the new Nintendo console, The Switch

>even when they're shitty
So all dubs then?

Look, I'm no weeb, but even I can tell Japan puts a fuck-ton more effort into their voice-acting than the west does.. Like, how can you sit and watch shit like the cutscenes from MegaMan8/X4, or the entire Shenmue series and NOT fucking cringe?
The dub that always comes to mind is Cowboy Bebop, because from what I heard the creator said he thinks the English dub is better than sub. And of course there's lots of other largely agreed upon dub wins, like Yu Yu Hakusho and Dragon Ball Z.

But the reason I usually prefer even bad dubs is because I hate having to read, and when lots of characters are chattering simultaneously sub sucks cock, nothing beats naturally hearing and understanding it.

There's some subs I can't stand, Attack on Titan comes to mind, it's a particularly atrocious one because it doesn't just sound bad but boring. At least something like Mega Man is so bad it's good in a charming sort of way, AoT is probably the worst dub I ever heard.

Its going to be a portable near-PS4 and you will like it.
That's already the case with the current Switch though

Baten Kaitos is relatively niche, and the existing dub was horrible, like beyond comically bad. Seems like this port is them trying to make a quick buck on renewed interest on Monolithsoft IPs after the success of the Xenoblade series, no clue why they picked Baten Kaitos instead of Xenosaga, maybe to test the waters, but I doubt they want to spend the money to re-do the English dub when they can just rip it out and not have people complain about the terrible English.

I realize one thing that might give the PS5 level graphics rumor some merit, is that the Switch 2 will likely max out at 1080p in docked mode. That means it can fully cut out the overhead that 4k graphics bring. Also keeps the file sizes manageable.
Were you expecting 4K? Are you retarded? That was literally never a possibility.

Oh, is Sony going to be making this? This is a portable device with a television plug-in. The games don't play like that but the system is built like it. Hitting an acceptable price-point while also doing 4K is literally impossible and the idea that you would have ever gotten anything other than an upgrade from 720 to 1080 is unthinkable. To say nothing of the fact that, as Epoch stated, 4K games practically don't exist in current gen.

It's not my fault you refuse to follow my train of thought.

Its not my fault that you're a dumb retard who is expecting to get a PS5 when Nintendo's entire design philosophy for the past 20 years has been to be one generation behind.
It's unfortunate that a single comment can set you off like this. I suggest you take some time away from the internet.

I seriously would not expect anything more powerful than a Steam Deck if they want to keep the price point low, the Deck is probably the absolute best you could expect, but Valve cut it really close and probably take a loss on the lower end models
I'm not impressed on this whole fanfare about "PS5-level graphics" namely because they look pretty much the same as PS4's, which shows we've hit a ceiling, whereas I remember seeing huge leaps of progress across generations since the SNES days. It doesn't help that game development (especially on the japanese side) will continue to drag its heels for the PS4 even within 2024 and I sincerely doubt there will be many FUN games taking full advantage of the PS5 hardware (or its equivalent elsewhere) in the future.

And yeah the Steam Deck can handle the games in my Steam library just fine, high settings 720p with sometimes a steady 30fps cap.

I don't doubt the Switch successor will reach a similar level and fill the gaps just fine.

There were examples of japanese executives clearly avoiding the current Switch because of Sony/Playstation fanboyism though, such as the Ryu Ga Gotoku devs not willing to port Yakuza 0/1&2HD/3-4-5 Remastered because they claim the Switch doesn't give enough of an "underground feeling", or Aquaplus (Utawarerumono, White Album, etc) that has yet to bring over their game catalog on the hybrid. Or japanese executives being completely out of the loop, such as the CyberConnect2's CEO, who seem they would rather die an honorable samurai death than living in a vidya future without Playstation as the leader.

No amount of firepower upgrade for the next console will fix anything if certain third-parties still harbor an irrational disdain for Nintendo, instead of properly adapting themselves.

Literally pulling dubs from the damn near genesis of video game dubbing (almost 30 years ago) to make your point doesn't actually make your point. There were plenty of far better dubs then, let alone since.

A lot of demanding PlayStation and Xbox titles use checkerboard rendering (where only half the screen is rendered in 4K at a time) or AI upscaling (where an image is rendered at a much lower resolution and then guesstimated to 4K by guessing pixels). In practice these both only look slightly worse than true 4K, but it is noticeable if you’re looking closely.

Switch 2 will have AI upscaling according the the Nvidia leak, which means it may achieve similar fake results compared to PS5 or XSS. This will be especially true in handheld mode on its much smaller screen.

I know it won't happen but I just wish the OLED screen is a launch thing this time. The Vita's screen still is unmatched in portables.
Switch not launching with it by default, Steam Deck not having it, and even Vita reverting to LCD with its reiteration doesn't instill much confidence that it'll happen.

I won't get one on launch anyway, I almost always prefer Nintendo's revisions like GBC, GBA SP, DS Lite, New 3DS, and Switch Lite (used one but never actually upgraded to it).

It won't look that great. DLSS for 4k is intended to be upscaled from 1440p, any lower and it becomes too blurry, or too much detail is lost. DLSS at 1080p would mean internal resolution of around 600p - 480p, and you are losing way more detail from that then you are from 1440 -> 4k. It also is not perfect and blurs in motion, its gotten a bit better over time, but at 4k or on a big screen its not noticeable as it would be on a small handheld screen. Handheld doesn't need upscaling anyway, I assume it will still be a 720p screen as any higher would be pointless at 7 inches, and even 720p at that size looks really sharp even with no anti aliasing.
