I've never been to India, but as a young girl (also blonde) my mom took me to a muslim country on holiday (my dad didn't want to go cause he didn't like the heat) and even tho we stayed inside a tourist resort the entire time the experience with the muslim men there was absolutely awful. They were incredibly creepy and pushy and were constantly hitting on my mom. Thankfully nothing bad happened, but I'm convinced we just got lucky cause we never left the tourist area. We never went on holiday without my dad again after that.

If she’s in a group then that’s positive. I’ve been to a few places in Uttar Pradesh and it was far from the worst of my experiences. I would advise her to preferably stay in a group or with a man, wear a ring on her wedding finger, claim to be married if asked, always cover her shoulders and keep a light scarf on her in case she needs to cover her head and, if in trouble and there are no women around, look for a Sikh man.

ETA: only drink in a ‘foreigners’ bar or nice restaurant, never to excess and only with others (preferably a man). Never get into a rickshaw, taxi or public transport if she’s been drinking. If only with women then travel in the women’s train carriage even if it’s packed, she’ll definitely be groped otherwise. Never be around the army unless their officer is present.

They are better when not adjacent to Muslim communities, I've met some misogynistic Sikhs but they're far less common than the Muslim variant, speaking as someone whose not religious at all but has some respect for them. A Sikh temple will generally be a safe place to go too, I would never feel that safety in a mosque. Oh, and they'd feed you in the langhar hall until you can't move lol. Generally safer but never let your guard down.

I think that is true for a lot of us. I used to think feminists were unhinged theorists, with all their talk about patriarchy, structure, privilige and social constructs. But now many feminists are talking about womens physical boundaries, toilets, sports, prisons and such things that exists in the real world. Or maybe they always did, I just didn't listen to them.
