I've been thinking about this, and I'm pretty sure he keeps her around because she's the least-attractive. She has a history of eating disorders and body dysmorphia, i.e. low self-esteem, so he knows that she will most likely always have it in the back of her mind that he could toss her aside any time he wants, and thus will do whatever it takes to stay on his good side. I remember around Visions I would watch and listen to a bunch of interviews from her, and she'd casually talk about being able to move all over Canada and just freely experiment with music and meet all kinds of artsy people, and I'd always be confused about how she was able to just dick around with expensive production equipment all the time while seemingly having no kind of day job. And then I found out about her rich parents and it all clicked into place. Makes the riverboat story even more interesting because it comes off as another bored rich girl singer larping as poor for the art cred.

Hard to see from such a small pic but no, nothing stands out to me, ears are normal size, at normal height, kid is squinting in the light, possibly has dads eyes rather than mums and seems to be at that cute stage where they still have the cherub lips from babyhood. Yeah well he certainly doesn’t seem to want to do the good husband and father thing. I can’t get to grips with siring a whole string of kids and leaving them everywhere. Well, I was very lucky to do it in the UK, at a time when I got paid a small grant to do my PhD and got my fees paid for me with a scholarship type thing. Just a few k a year in those days, and I taught and stuff as well for extra cash. So for me it didn’t put me into debt (I could live like a monk/air plant as needed) there was nothing like the classes the American do, you basically just get given a lab bench and told to design something, get on with it and submit your thesis three years later.
