Starfield - Bethesda's new space IP: will probably be full of fun and easily trackable bugs

How do you think Starfield will turn out?

The difference is Egosoft consistently sticks with each release and fixes their shit while listening to community feedback and actively providing assistance to modders (for free).
oh I know, it wasn't a negative criticism (and mod tool update just dropped).

although x players got absolute apeshit about rebirth for some reason...

I really want to like that game, but the German Management Autism is too stronk for me. One day I'll have enough time to getting into it- maybe.

they have more official videos about the other aspects too. but a big part of the "think" is figuring shit out yourself, which feels fucking great once you do. usually trying to figure out dumb shit drives me up the wall, but in there it's actually positive since it's not rally dumb, just a bit convoluted maybe (each game has it's own rules after all). handholding is for fucking pussies.

you could try x3(tc) first which a lot of it is based on (and is an evolution of the earlier games). things changed a bit since then in presentation and how you do it, but the basis is still roughly the same. once you figure out how they expect you to handle trading etc shit's so fucking cash. or rebirth which is more in line with how x4 does stuff, but as mentioned on smaller scope.

EDIT;
the x3tc manual (which is pretty good) literally has this in the beginning:

rebirth it is then

the irony is at release those games were a mess on the level of cp2077 and starfield, if not worse.

not just aliens, robot aliens:
latest expedition started a few days ago

That looks way more interesting and colourful.

Why does every NPC that's not wearing a helmet have that wide eyed bewildered fish eyed stare?

That's got to be a bug because I booted up Fallout 4 and they don't look like that.
They did mocap for the faces, right? It looks like all the actors they used exaggerated their expressions. Like they think the technology doesn't work with subtle expressions, kinda like when a boomer starts yelling at their phone because voice recognition doesnt understand them
Anyone wanna talk about what ships they're building when they get the chance? I'm waiting on new internet so cant share screenshots, but I've been trying to build a semi truck in space. 2 wide on the interior, and pulling along a trailer twice as long. Doesnt look great in 3rd person view since there are no physics jackknifing my trailer, but its good enough.
Is there any word on if the mod tools will be tied to Bethesda.net like the FO4 ones were?
Mods are confirmed for console, so its all being routed through Bethesda.net guaranteed. To be frank, with all the buzz around how woke Nexus mods are, I'm waiting for a Kiwimods subforum moderated by someone who checks mods for malware before installing them
Tbf with bethesda games now I just player.modav carryweight whatever since it seems to be severely limiting in this game

Anyway I joined the crimson fleet via the narc questline (get arested in space by UC)

How do you do ship boarding because it seems like you have zero access to EM weapons without progressing the story?
You need to unlock targeting in the tech skill branch, it allows you to target individual parts on an enemy ship. Target their engines and you can dock with them while they try to repair it to raid their ship. First time I did it I had two guys cowering in the cockpit throwing grenades into their crew compartment out of terror.

No it doesn't look like mocap to me. It looks like they just 3d scanned the faces with the actors doing different expressions then blend between them with their existing face animation system or something. They use flex maps for wrinkles so it makes it really uncanny, its sort of what LA Noire used at a smaller scale. I think the dialogue animations get baked down in the creation kit or something, because theres a good 17gb of just face animations in the files, where as in previous games the animation info was stored alongside the audio file. This is just guessing until we get the tools of course, but mocap would look smoother

Maybe my honey moon phase is over but there really isn't any reason to explore, the resources like 99% of shit in bethesda games revolves around crafting which is a waste of time when everything is so cheap in comparison. even ships. the planetary traits dont mean shit. so thats 20% of skills dedicated to exploring/crafting, another 20% of skills focus on dealing with enemies peacefully which you can just reload on the rare chance persuasion doesn't work. Another 20% on ship combat which as noted is more trouble than its worth. another 20% on personal combat which is rather useless when you can kill most things rather easily even with weapons found in your main cities. and finally a 20% dedicated to unarmed/melee attacks. the problem is the starborn's dragon shouts negates the need for most of these "skills" at least the ones that weren't useless to begin with. especially melee/unarmed where even if you get lucky with finding the best weapons you still need to hit a fucker 50+ times in order to actually off them it seems like.

What is this fucking autistic mechanic of not being able to fast travel while docked in the pilot seat but being able to fast travel while standing up

And you may find yourself playing a game by Todd
And you may find yourself feeling like nothing's changed
And you may ask yourself "Can I clip out of bounds?"
And you may ask yourself "Do they still have the chests with everything in them?"
Same as it ever was

God even the comments on this video are full of Bethesda dick lickers going on about how Unreal is 25 years old so that means Creation Engine isn't a buggy pile of shit and how 'gamers don't know how engines work, lol'. It pisses me off with how many of these NPCs literally just repeat the exact same things ad nauseam. Ironically they are the ones that don't know how engines work.

I think I'm the only one who legitimately like this game in this hellhole.
Dont listen to his lies

His sweet little lies

I would rate the game above fallout 4 (which is an incredibly low standard) I guess you could call it effectively the fallout 4 goty edition since it feels like a more refined version of that game. Nothing like what was promied and a LOT of rough edges.

Game has only crashed once on the crack so small applause for bethesda for having at least one person on the QA team

Care to explain or name all of the "refinements"? I still find it fascinating how anyone can say it's improved over Fallout 4 when it's a massive downgrade.

Well call me retarded then because maybe its the clean scifi aesthetic tricking me but I generally like the gunplay more. The quests Ive run into are pretty neat. The dialogue pointless dialogue choices seem pretty much the same.

Mind you I havent fucked around with outposts and I havent even started the first constellation mission I fucked off murdered a bunch of people in the city joined the pirates and did some quests and running through the ranger and vanguard missions, neon city and the terrormorph line.

Also can I say its the fucking gayest shit doing the gang questline in neon and if you stay loyal they sell out to fucking cops even if you try to tell them its fucking gay

Can you elaborate on why?

I wanted to like the game, I never expected it to be amazing, bethesda games never are, but I wanted to like it.

But the exploration is worse than their past games, the settings is just uninspired, the writing is godawful. I do think combat is a bit better, but that's not a reason the play this type of game.

After playing for 15 hours or so, gonna give it a 5/10 for there being little bugs I've happened across (6/10 if mods help, as some have helped it out so far).
Main story sucks, and I should've just rushed it before completing the better side missions; granted I enjoyed the UC Vanguard story overall.
I'll have to see how the support for it goes, but given I just got the Russian Version of the game; I'll probably wait once it's $10 or so 1-2 years from now before I get it on Steam then.
Never forget that Pete Hines is a faggot.

I was thinking about a problem Bethesda may have in the future, but how would a sequel for this game even work if the story is about an infinite unchanging loop of collecting stuff? They'd have to ignore all the set story stuff for this game to make sequel, making this game's story effectively pointless. Not that Bethesda hasn't ignored stuff between sequels for their games before.

Another problem I have is the setting is supposed to be 307 years in the future with , but humanity still has a culture like we've just set foot off the planet instead of being the far-reaching race we are. Infinite Warfare has a very similar setting, but it takes place only 164 years into the future and only within the solar system. I just think that Human culture would change by a lot given both the time and space that humanity is spread out in starfield.

you're straight up asking for them to develop an entirely new culture thats an insane ask for people as lazy as these devs. as for the loop. much like that one elder scrolls with all the endings they can make it semi-self contained. No one else except the PC and a few others actually experience the loop meaning they can move on, for fucks sake since the entire main plot revolves around the PC, so whatever you decide to do among the quest lines will probably be inconsequential especially if they set it even further into the future. Or hell they could set it in the past, we have 2 wars mentioned and a few more revolutions, it would be absurdly easy to set the story around then. if we're being honest by the time we even get a next one of these it will be the 2040s, no one currently working at this company will be around by then. hell gaming itself might be forced into smaller titles by then too. no need for quarter billion dollar budget games if everyone plays it on gamepass for free

it doesn't help that actual sales of the game seem to be less than BG3 or Elden Ring., which were made much cheaper in a quicker amount of time. considering how little they gave a fuck amount updates to fallout 4 or 76 i'd be impressed if the DLC for this game isn't as dogshit as those, most of it being crafting dlc like its the fucking sims and maybe two quality expansions. although maybe i'm wrong, the DLC not being part of game pass means they might be a fuck load more incentivized to release quality dlc.

gamepass has only been around for 4 years and so far i can't really name a single dev that didn't start producing complete dogshit after becoming part of the Microsoft borg.
