I believe Nick has done this: he picks and chooses the aspects of his faith and culture he likes (e.g. he likes the songs at his church, but not the message; he likes conservative policies, but not the 'prude' ones; etc...) At first it might seem thoughtful, buy in the end it is revealed that people released from social restraint will lizard brain into sex, drugs, and pleasure and recreate the famous rat paradise experiment spontaneously.

The "mix and match" approach of worldviews (faith/culture/etc.) based on preference alone leads to a highly unstable moral code and hypocritical behavior, as the worldviews are distinct for a reason; at some point values and philosophies from different sources become incompatible (someon's faith being incompatible with a given culture for example). The point at which problems appear depends on the level of forethought put into the adoption and expression of what one has incorporated into their worldview.

A shallow amount of forethought and expression will manifest in someone like Nick, who just wants to do his own thing, "no questions asked", even in his alleged relationship with God. This leads to hypocrisy and reliance on the goodwill of others (who are also not prone to "asking questions"). Hence, Nick's worldview is as shallow as he is.

In order to live consistently like a mature adult, sometimes one has to do what they don't want/like or even live at the expense of their own happiness from time to time and demonstrating self-control (rather than succumbing to selfishness or lying about the behavior like a child would). If one has put sufficient forethought into the nature of this world, and their place in it, then they will be better equipped when the time comes to make hard decisions. This is but one benefit of firmly-rooted and well-reasoned principles.

Given everything we've learnt of his weaselly personality, hedonistic predilections and damaged psychology, I'm more inclined to believe it's he advocating for degeneracy out of the two. While, perhaps, not entirely innocent, Kayla strikes me as an incredibly insecure and depressed individual. The way she broke down on that one stream, wondering whether she was a good enough mother/wife, the prescription drugs, the extreme weight loss and cosmetic procedures (to fix her oh so ruined body following childbirth, which her husband had no qualms voicing aloud--Lord knows what else he's said in private), point to someone doing whatever necessary to keep her family together (ie, Nick happy) whilst trying to maintain her sanity.

Kayla also has enough pull with Nick to get upset with him over Mandy. That being the case, Kayla could put a stop to the swinger stuff/lewds/Gay90's shenanigans, but there is more evidence that she is for those things than against them. The difference being that Kayla gets nothing positive out of Nick flirting/propositioning with Mandy, but she got "something" out of Nick's locals and going to places like Gay90s and Hedonism II with Nick (lingerie, lewds, and who knows what else).

Kayla has also certainly gone out of her way to make the degeneracy her own, as she has flirted with Nick's locals on stream, accepted lingerie from them, posted lewds for them and teased nudes as well (according to Kayla herself, Nick said no to the nudes). This is not the behavior of someone trying to keep her family together.

Side note: recommend those concerned about Nick cheating on Kayla with porn or the like take Kayla's own indulgences into consideration as well.

Not bothering to find the actual screenshot but if I recall right the message from Mandy didn't ask Nick to get the clip taken down and was something along the lines of "Elissa posted a clip about me." It seemed more like throwing chum in the water to get Nick to give her attention again. Instead Nick rushed to pause the stream and get it taken down ASAP, and hen he eventually came back from vacation, he had done a total 180 on whether the drinking and degeneracy talk in his streams had gone too far.

In my opinion the most likely reason for that was that he had already been "admonished" by his wife for that stream.

The reason he rushed to take it down could be that he knew that Kayla monitors Elissa's channel, or at least did (some of her clips were in her public playlist that was found), and he may have been trying to get it taken down before Kayla saw it.

Doesn't look like the full playlist but shows the TED talk and the elissa clips. This is partly why people assumed Rackets yelled at Elissa at Kayla's request regarding the Mandy lust clip.

Of course it ended up being a Streisand effect situation where the clip takedown became a controversy in and of itself.
