Controversial opinions aside, the reasons why I dislike him have everything to do with the way he handles criticism. What's all the more upsetting is that -gasp- I used to like the guy. Who knows, maybe I'm Virginia-trailer-park-swamp-rat-kin, but I felt like @Watcher did.
It really struck a chord with me because I'm a college student surrounded by professors who talk just like Milo Stewart. I'm not even joking.
My literature professor told the class that the word 'crazy' was ableist and that we shouldn't use it. This was really dumb for two reasons: One, we were reading a short story about a guy who was tripping balls while being in a horrific accident. Two, I have like half the disorders in the DSM, as diagnosed by a licensed psychiatrist. It was the most condescending thing I'd ever heard.

There is nothing wrong in agreeing with opinions someone has, even if you hate that person. Only because you agree with such a person on one thing, doesn't mean you agree with that person on everything. It is kind of sad that many people seem to think that once someone gets onto a podium high enough to be heard by several thousand people, you either have to side with that person completely or refuse every position that person has. Also, do you know what I miss in this day an age, where everyone can step on his wooden box and shout through the internet? Rotten Tomatoes. The real thing, not the website.
If I'd ever met any professor that told me that I couldn't use a word like "crazy", because it was ableist (and not because it is a rather loosely defined term, and I should define that persons state of mine better) I would have stood up right there and left the course for good.
