I'm not surprised at all by anything coming out about him now. I said in the last thread that "he never had the makings of a varsity athlete" even before all the vtuber and gay furry romance shit. I feel vindicated now. After a certain age, you just know.

I stopped watching him after the Deep Blue video. That video is my favorite and I'd say is his best work, but even then, at about 49:10 he uses Bionicles to represent chess playing styles. I mean come on. That's viscerally gay. Whenever I think about that video, that part still sticks out to me.

He should just save face and commit seppuku after the EVE video goes live. He'll go out with honor "just like in his Japanese animes!". It would save him from a dishonorable death at the hands of the Tuck-o-gawa clan.

The Jon Jones videos are an example: It's segmented as a rise and fall story, with focus on important events like the Daniel Cormier rivalry and the PEDs scandals. A Turkey Tom version would just be "then Jon Jones crashed his car, then Jon Jones failed a drug test, then Jon Jones smacked his girlfriend and headbutted a cop car. Wow, what a crazy guy. The end."

The funny thing is that there's a real demand for Tom's audio reports. I've had a few random posters in the Bam Margera thread ask for more info, despite Bam Margera being a celebrity who's life story is all over the place. I was incentivized months back to make an epic detail OP intro going through everything Bam. Then KF.net was dropped and I got distracted again. Then Turkey Tom did his video on Bam and it more or less is exactly what those users want and I need to just add link his video to the OP already.

And while you're not wrong I do appreciate Tom's videos on cows that have ridiculously long arcs. Both of Chantal's OPs are great and serve as a model of how to introduce a lolcow. But they don't include all of Chantals videos, I feel you do get more or less everything there is to know in that 1 hour Tom video. Beige is a better storyteller, Porsalin is the funniest, as for Fredrik I really think his bizarre history docs are his best videos.

Could somebody who's into Vtubers tell me if having lore beyond "I'm a big tiddy anime babe uwu" is becoming the hot new trend for these people? Kinda makes me think of when the Channel Awesome people got a little too high off their own farts and started relying on elaborate skits and lore that spans across their reviews of forgotten Hulk comics.

My thing is that you don’t need this big Discount Genshin Impact setup. If your character is in a library, all you gotta do is have them be “Hi! I work in a library. Let me tell you some of the crazy things that can be found on our shelves.”

Even if Frederik returns to DTRH documentaries, his whole niche has been basically taken over by our fellow Kiwi Farmer @NotATurkey, who credits and references the Farms in most, if not all of his videos.

I've only heard of Frederik through exploring more YouTube documentaries of Wings of Redemption and Spoony, and the amount of effort to make such documentaries is pretty good, but NotATurkey could easily put them out in the same quality in several weeks compared to Frederik. Plus, he's already covered so much drama and lolcows that there is so much to explore with NotATurkey than with Frederik.

Tom, if you get this trashy-ass haircut, become a furry, or send your dongus to your fans, I'll be very disappointed.

The problem for me is, however good some of Tom's videos are he lacks the critical thing that makes DTRH so much more superior in my opinion (disregarding everything I know about Fred the person) is the clear tone of the narrator, clear visuals, clear storytelling and clear evidence/sources.
Plus Tom has gotten editors to churn out more videos, rather than fewer videos but with better research and writing.
I really like Joon The King, Cecil McFly or Toad McKinley as an alternative, they're much less drama/tea oriented and much more lolcow oriented.

Tom has also really plummeted in quality based on what subject he's talking about, but that is very much my own personal tastes in content/gossip.

I think there’s also j Aubrey in that realm of good documentary YouTubers , along with Swoop/Petty University. And Cruel World Happy Mind.

The one thing Fred had over the crowd was not taking a side or casting judgment on the subject while crafting the narrative to make a documentary worth watching.

I’m not sure if there’s a “king/queen” of documentary YouTubers these days. It’s all a matter of the subject and who puts out the best product.

The storyline of his Astraline character is about how Fredrik Knudsen set out to learn more about humans, with no ill intentions, but didn't understand the concept of biased accounts, which lead to a corruption of the library and introduced a rift into it, which will eventually destroy it and Knudsen himself, unless he stops it, which I interpret as meaning "made video about lolcows by using kiwifarms as a source and uploading them to youtube which further encouraged harassment of those individuals unless he sets the record straight". Caligula might be a stand in of every cow he made fun of. If you watch that lore video again with this in mind, it all makes sense.

And the solution is to... what?
Remove the bias?
Remove everything? Create a new narrative?
Back up, motherfucker. That's a lot more interesting philosophically and says a lot more about their mentality and psuedo-religious viewpoints than I think they realize it does.

Also, indie western vtubers tend to be extremely cringe or they fail completely at the whole "streaming but not with my real face" aspect. There's very little roleplaying or kayfabe, so you're essentially just watching a tiddy streamer without being exposed to a face that ages, or a butterfaced woman who would never have the reach she does if she was showing her own face on stream.

It's like how a lot of anime is inherently cringe, but you don't notice it unless you're listening to a dub. If you don't know Japanese, the language acts as a cringe-shield.
