I still have Murder Family as my favorite episode because aside from that phone call Stolas, it was actually a start-to-finish episode about their job as hitmen, the obstacles they could run into while doing a job on earth, and that is ALL I was there for when I got hooked on the pilot, also I just think Mrs. Maysberry is cute, and her being a complete one-off character spared from Viv's writing is probably the biggest mercy a character can get on this show.
Haha watching Truth Seekers again is like watching a completely different show.

The show focused more about the implications of demons roaming on earth, and less about shipping X Y AND Z characters.
Is it me, or is Truth Seekers weirdly disconnected from most of the rest of the show? Blitzo and Moxxie are in actual trouble on a mission, Blitzo's mind calls him out instead of him always being innocent, it's brought up again that demons can't just openly roam the human world, It has an actually fun fight scene, the DHORKS are set up to be a bigger threat that know or might even reveal the existence of demons and hell, but just never show up again, and Stolas is actually portrayed as a dangerous and intimidating demon. (I can only assume he went back and wiped them out offscreen, but I don't know why he wouldn't stay to finish the job before resuming Uwu Gay Owl mode.)

For real, what in the fuck happened? Because every other episode feels like an offbrand version of Panty & Stocking written by a 14 year old South Park fan, and there are only two writers, was Brandon just seriously carrying the whole thing that day?

I checked out four episodes into the first season so I have no idea who some of these characters you guys are talking about are. But this show strayed from the status quo before it even established one. I signed up for demon hitmen and it didn't deliver. It would have been interesting if I.M.P. had rules or codes it had to follow a la Death Note or something. Moxxie tries to follow these rules as best as he can and will reject offers that break them because of his own morals but Blitzo and/or Millie (she needs a personaity) will exploit any and all loopholes to get paid. For example:
1. You aren't allowed to kill anyone under 18. Let's say the target in question is 17 years old. I.M.P. befriends the target, going to school, "how do you do fellow kids" shenanigans, gets invited to a birthday party and Blitzo blows the target's head off the second they turn 18.
1.b. You can kill minors if the client is also a minor
2. You aren't allowed to kill people on their death bed (sick or elderly that are going to die within a week). The target is an elderly man with cancer. He did loads of evil shit and made many enemies and thinks he's going to get away with it. Millie discovers how to cure late-stage cancer just to kill him.
3. You aren't allowed to kill people who aren't your target. I don't know what the punishment for this could be but it's something I guess.
Edit: 4. You can't kill people who have sold their soul to the Devil. It's not that you're not allowed to, it's just impossible. There's no action packed hunt, but just a fuckton of paperwork that involves convincing the Devil to sell your target's soul to you (which he will never do).

It would be interesting to see I.M.P. try to kill someone who is completely innocent, no twist, and trying to justify it all because their client is a petty bastard. Or an assignment leads to a clusterfuck soap opera chain of blood feuds because everyone who is killed wants revenge on someone else. Or they have to kill someone who is aware of their existence.

I can't reply to one person, but yeah, the pilot is essentially false advertisement. This is the only time I think I ever saw a show stray this far from its initial premise so early on. And I hate when people say "it would have gotten boring really quickly" when there are so many different ideas you can take with this premise that could fill 20 episodes.

I still think Loo Loo Land was the best of season 1, it had a good balance of comedy and serious moments, followed by Ozzie's. Not saying Truth Seekers was bad, because it wasn't and offered some great insight on the characters (namely Blitzo), but the big action segment towards the end dragged on too long for my taste.
I also can't believe anyone would hate the C.H.E.R.U.B. They were so goddamn adorable.

Yeah and the Stolas relationship shit has gotten stale, at least with the hitman plot there are so many ways you can innovate it. With the relationship drama, it could be a decent source of conflict for a subplot rather than the main plot of the show.

I both dread yet won't be surprised if Hazbin runs into this same issue.
