"Oh no people on the internet don't like me!"
So she agrees it doesn't matter or effect her, why does that need a book and a patreon and years of support? If it all boils down to her making fun of some idiot's phone call?
She wants to be both a victim and a "survivor". She can't be a butt-kicking punk girl if there's no external threat. Which is why before she was complaining about e-harassment, she was complaining about industry sexism.
That's not to say that these things don't legitimately bother her, but she's more terrified about her reputation than her safety. To a narcissist, the worst thing you can do to them is interrupt their asserted identity.
She knows she'll look crazy if she publicly freaks out every time someone on the internet calls her a name, but she still needs to tell people that it's happening. So she'll grab an example from two years ago, and imply that its just the tip of the iceberg. Which is why she'll never identify any of her tormentors or even post their twitter names or emails.
Similarly, the title of the video declares that she's "getting better" at fielding harassing phonecalls. To say that she got a bunch of worse ones before. We'll never get evidence of them.
Note that before Gamergate, she accused Wizardchan members of sending her harassing phonecalls. But only
after followers started telling her that it's not a big deal that people on an obscure imageboard are mocking her appearance. It was damage control, done to prove she's not crazy.
Similarly, every four months when a comment on KotakuInAction calls her a name she'll screenshot it and tweet it out with "TWO YEARS OF
THIS SHIT but hey whatevs lol thats my crazy life". And then she'll get an ocean of praise for her 'strength' from followers.
Keep in mind, the Patreon exist so she can "focus" on producing free games. It's been over two years of collecting $3000+ a month and exactly no games have been created.
