I just wanna point out that absolutely none of them were involved in any strike in 1960. This is like some multi colored hair hambone posting "We defeated Nazis once. We can do it again." with a picture of Normandy attached.

Remember, the writers are out there fighting for their very lives! They've tapped out their savings accounts and maxed out their credit cards! They're being evicted day and night! Under such stress it's good to take time to honor the reddit holiday of National Pepperoni Pizza day.

Just one day ago he was so smug. It's kinda amazing what a lack of instant gratification does to some people.

You should only trust approved sources.

Or just any news that you agree with. Let's do a fun thought experiment with Joe's retarded, confusing, and poorly written jab. Let's assume all the CEOs decided to break from their negotiation with the WGA to go to happy hour at Cheesecake Factory. Wouldn't that mean that they don't give two shits about any of the WGA's demands, kinda like how they had their first meeting with them on a Friday afternoon? I'm really wondering what Joe thought was the burn here. Does Joe assume anyone who eats at the Cheesecake Factory is a loser? Does he think the only thing to eat at the Cheesecake Factory is cheesecake? Is he saying that the millionaire CEOs can only afford Cheesecake Factory? Or is he just a really shitty writer suffering just enough under the Dunning-Kruger effect to make him silly who's desperate for any win?

All of that leads to this morning, the day after talks failed.

Cope and sneed and suffer.

Why the media blitz, though? That shit isn't there to convince the studio execs, who hate the writers almost as much as we do; it's done to convince John Q. Public that Everything Is Fine when it's quite clearly not, yeah?
See, the problem is that John Q. Public is only kinda-sorta paying attention because he wants to watch you faggots suffer. When/if a deal happens, the fun of rubbernecking at a train wreck stops, and it's back to producing substandard goyslop entertroonment. That's not as funny to hear about.

These stupid fucks are providing more entertainment being abject failures than they ever will with their product.

residuals payments from streaming services for their work
the longer this strike goes on the more i'm convinced this is the one thing holding up a deal being made. i hope the entire hollywood industry bleeds dry as studios desperately fight to hide streaming numbers from investors and DEI employees

Adding one more count to my blessings: I'm more better off than some hack writer because I can easily save up for the Cheesecake Factory. (Unless California restaurants are that over-priced.)

This is why this strike is my favorite piece of non-anime entertainment in a long time. My family gets on my back for daring to have critical opinions/analyses for films because I'm not "using" my film/video degree from almost ten years ago. I didn't think another strike would've happened so soon, but I didn't want to move to California to even attempt to get work even as a gaff worker because it's fucking California. Yeah, I kinda wish there were more opportunities here that wasn't a news station, but honestly, I'm more relieved than not that I never once stepped foot in any of these pozzed places to even apply for a job. That dream job of working at Disney or Pixar? Was never going to happen, and I'm fine with it nowadays.

But "Hurr durr you're not putting your degree to good use" is real irritating, and so my only solace in that is the schadenfreude of seeing these asshats flail and whine about being homeless in California, a fate they had voted for. Something you'd think a conservative family who hates Californians because they infected our state would be all for and therefore actually relieved they don't have a family member trapped in that hellhole.

"You're not using your degree" when in actuality it's, "And thank God my procrastination has allowed me to state my personal opinions safely at home instead of being an asskisser to pedophiles to stay in the business." Thanks, Internet, you saved me from making this awful mistake by opening my eyes to what was going on, especially in the animation industry. Because Lord knows I wouldn't have kept my mouth shut about some of that shit and end up blacklisted, and then be stuck in California.

Both sides have similar sets of demands, including better wages, residuals payments from streaming services for their work, and job protections against the use of artificial intelligence.
yeah but those arent the issues,. the issue is the mandatory amount of writers for each show, thats very expensive and makes shows worse.

Today I learned that the ICA, some Canadian group dealing with advertising in Canada, has locked out Canadian union actors from doing ads for almost 2 years.

Second, 500+ days of being locked out of work and I have not heard one word of this meaning either this is not that big of a deal at all or nobody cares or some mixture of both.

Third, time to get fat on spicy chicken sandwiches, baconators, and frosties.
Eh, I think the agreements are taking longer. I mean keep in mind, this is the pinned tweet on the Twitter page for WGA.

And I've been reading from people since Tuesday how the end is nigh and the companies were gonna know the WGA's wrath. The longer this goes on the more I'm gonna gloat.

I’m a fucking Leaf and I’ve legitimately never heard of this. It’s definitely Both - granted we’ve had some stores run the exact same ads for over a decade, just changing the one part of the ad that shows the products that’re on sale. Yes, they’re the exact ad, because the child actor who’s in the ad is now in her 20’s.

The point is it’s a complete non issue. Sorta like this strike, only less entertaining.

They honestly keep saying "a deal is close; we're making progress" but why would it take three days to do this? I'd imagine it would take no more than half a day if a negotiation was actually made.
In an instance of two large entities with a lot of personnel to deal with that are negotiating in something like good faith with one another, I can still see it taking several days if one or both parties have to keep checking with their own people who aren't given a seat at the table directly, but still have some kind of input on their own side's demands.
What we are seeing is pure kabuki theater, played by a host of rotten assholes.

So no A-list union actor has been allowed to be the spokesperson/sponsor for franchises nation-wide for a couple years now? Leafs did something awesome for once, we should be following suit.
